Finding ways to express yourself is difficult. Especially in art.I've never been particularly good at it myself. I stick to stories, character designs and other elements of expression. They become direct results of when I'm feeling good. Feeling invigorated and feeling inspired. If I had it my way that'd always be the case.
But I've always envied people who could present themselves raw on a canvas. When you wake up some mornings and feel like life is giving you the finger.
And I feel pretty f---ed right now. I've never personally understood why your brain insists on perpetuating thoughts that you are perfectly aware are bad for you. Depress you. Haunt you and generally make your day a miserable one.
So here's to putting it to paper.
Hence the title.
EDIT 4/13/05: Seeing as how this was a would-be scrap turned my most popular work on DA, I figured I should probably go back and touch it up a little, try and get back the lights and darks that got lost in translation when I scanned it with the digital camera.. anyway. Pay no mind.

Β Hello, I apologize that I never sent this tΒ o you. I have been fascinated by this picture for 10+ years I am an army veteran and got this tattoo right before my second deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. To me; the symbolism of my tattoo is controlled chaos, the gear represents the gears of war and the control (not the video games but the machines that make war happen). I made the person more feminine because I didn't want a manish figure tattooed on my body.Β

I absolutely love this piece, the way in which you communicate the idea of negative thoughts constantly tearing apart the mind with all these different twisted faces coming out of the back is amazing. For someone who has a lot of days in which they feel that thier own mind is betraying them by literally eating itself inside-out, I find this piece just a great way of visualizing these feelings.
