I honestly like Emmerichs Version of Godzilla - it's not a movie comparable to the very first version of Godzilla, but technically there shouldn't have been any sequels anyway. No reference used ^^To all those who requested that I change the title:

Please understand that the movie is an american thing - a different version and much later the japanese copyright holders decided they don't like it anymore and thus they made it a different creature named "Zilla". The continuity of the series is a joke anyway, the movies are all about the creature and they don't have to make any sense at all. And that's MY opinion, please respect it, thank you!

Loved the 1998 movie and loved the 1998 Godzilla and your picture definitely does him justice. I've always hated the original Godzilla because he looked so chunky and unbalanced, which is probably why I like the sleeker American version so much more. It just makes a lot more sense anatomically wise, also that it wasn't just randomly destroying everything in its path because it's omfg evil, no it was just finding a good place to lay eggs and survive and if things got destroyed in the process, so be it. I'm actually sad they never made a sequel with the 1998 Godzilla despite the somewhat open ending. Awesome design.
I haven't seen the new one yet but I'm definitely still gonna watch it. It still looks chunky but it also looks awesome, so I'll reserve my final opinion until I've actually seen the movie. Definitely excited for it. ^_^

The 2014 Godzilla movie is really good, but not a lot of screentime for Godzilla. Regardless, 11 minutes Godzilla shows up is pure gold.

Seen it. It was okay, I did enjoy it and I've watched it more than once, but I still like the 1998 movie more. I didn't hate the 2014 Godzilla despite it's chunkiness, it looked awesome, it's atomic breath was awesome, the roars were awesome and the fight against the mutos was especially awesome... I guess it's mostly nostalgia speaking in that I still prefer the 1998 movie and design. The first time I saw it I was a typical dinosaur loving kid, so that probably influenced my love for 1998 Godzilla too lol.
Shin Godzilla is fucking awful though.

This was the first Godzilla movie (and last so far - wanna see the new one) I had ever seen. x"D So it's no wonder that it's my favorite. But I love this Godzilla's design overall much, much better than the old original, lol. Beautiful artwork!!

Its not a bad movie at all its just it look nothing like the original monster and regular missiles kill the beast while the original monster can endure missiles all day long. If it wasn't call Godzilla Im sure no one would have hated it. The next one look amazing tho.

here's my opinion.
godzilla 1998 is a sci-fi movie, and the more logical the sci-fi the better.
while Gojira or real Godzilla is simply gigantic monster movie that has concept idea similar to ultraman which has elements like laser breathing, endure missiles etc.
so godzilla 1998 is just a sci-fi adaptation but surprisingly most people isn't ready yet for that movie.Β
alright for a simple logic thing,
if you enjoy thing like a gunman kills a swordsman you'll enjoy godzilla 1998
if you enjoy thing like a swordsman dodge the raining bullets and kills the gunman you'll enjoy Godzilla (Gojira)
if there is a high logical sci-fi movie adaptation of dragonball-z i'm sure the farmer with shotgun will kill raditz :3

The Godzilla from 1998 got his ass kicked by the real Godzilla in Final Wars tho lol. I prefer the real one cause I grew up With it and Well.... I like it when Godzilla fight other monsters. Also Godzilla came before the Ultramen.Β

nah, logically, that's a different one. you can't put a sci-fi movie character into other movie that not a sci-fi.
toho create a new monster that similar to godzilla 1998 and name it zilla cause of those G fans that dislike the sci-fi movie.
