Those sound like homework questions!
But, I guess it could of been a statement for the 'glass is half full or half empty' with the black being the negative [empty] and the white being the positive [full]. The mixed glass would then be the people that look at the glass and say "the glass is holding half the liquid of it's capacity"

The middle glass reminds me of a chessboard , and I love chess . I love this picture , because the lighting concept and display is awesome ! Great job !
