To anyone who calls this porn: You must be new to the internet. Porn requires nudity, (imo) though if something you see as a pass at seduction fits the bill for you personally then fine. This, however, does not need a mature filter because it has no nudity, underwear & bathing suits aren't pornographic, just clothing. Like some have already said, you'll find stuff like this in advertisements everywhere, and if it's OK for the strictly filtered advertising commissions then it's not porn. That's just my logical take, besides that great pic, pretty model, and hopefully she puts more energy in her other facial expressions - expression is what sets you out from the rest.

Porn is not defined by content but by intent. If the purpose of the image is to arouse sexually, it is pornographic in nature, regardless of the degree of nudity. Given the artist's comment in submitting the image, I would be inclined to believe that was the artistic intent here.

Personally, I'd classify it as softcore. I myself have no problem with pornography, and some of it is also artistic. However, this particular piece fails to say anything new or interesting, it has technical flaws, and the model's bra doesn't even remotely fit her. It is a static piece of eyecandy, as empty as the model's face. So while I've no problem with it being on the site, I certainly don't see why it needs to be featured here, or why we would pretend it is anything other than what it is: a pretty shot of a pretty woman, posted for no other reason than that she's pretty.

I have to agree with that assessment. (Don't mind the italics, I don't know how i triggered it, and Ctrl i didn'tΒ disengageΒ it.) Such is the internet that such things will always be popular for obvious reasons that I won't pretend I'm against. I'd like to think it unfortunate that DA is just another medium for the same old pics of girls that are everywhere else, but it is the internet as I said before, and I see no wrong with promoting one's work wherever possible. Also I wouldn't be quick toΒ dismissΒ this as not being art whether I think it typical/generic or not, because the photographer mayΒ genuinelyΒ think this artistic rather than just want the easy attention for his work.
The photographer is also still gaining with work like this either way since traffic determines popularity, so no matter what I see the sense of doing something so mainstream. I would just personally like to see more of an artistic take more often myself, (eg. Stefan Grosgean, I find his work to really show caring for the capture of his models more often than not, and their work together really shows a great deal of expression as well).
