Description
This is not canon from the Revenge of Rakazel story. I wanted to draw a sketchy dump with art of my online crossover RP with Bistraja but then I ended up drawing clean lines and so this turned out. I had a lot of trouble with the rain but now I am satisfied with the effect.
It's a scene inspired by the RP when Hawl and Kayleen ran into a storm. I add a short excerpt. We're both not native english speakers so be warned of not-perfect-english.
Chatlog:
Hawl: "We're almost there." Hawl growled hard, while holding her with the one hand and the horses with the other one. He had already seen some people who badly feared a thunderstorm. Women as well as men. He understood that a thunderstorm could cause large damage, but be scared of just light and loud noise he felt as foolish weakness. He hoped that Kayleen would calm down a little under the bridge. He slipped under the arch of wet stones and looked for a spot on the grassy ground beside the troubled river. The bridge was a bit too low, so the horses had to stay in the rain. Hawl sighed. Now he also felt the cold, as it moved through his wet clothes. He remembered the last aweful time when he was in such a state. But this time he didn't have to fight against huge waves with salty eyes and skin.
Kayleen: Just now, during the storm, Kayleen felt awful for tying the horses in the woods, but they were blissfully ignorant of the fear of falling, burning trees after a lightning strike. Still with a racing heart and weak knees, she followed Hawl in under the bridge. With a shudder she sat down tightly beside him on the patch of grass that was somewhat spared from the rain. It was a bit unnerving to sit by such dark, busy water but the river was luckily relatively small. She tugged at the soaking wet fabric over her chest and neck as it almost felt like it was suffocating her, when she already had trouble breathing normally with the fear raging inside her. "I'm sorry..." Even few small words came out with difficulty.
Hawl: Hawl pulled his legs close to his body and made himself small. His gaze was intently facing toward the dark, torrential water. His thin linen shirt stuck to the skin and also offered him little protection from the cold. The wind whistled all the time under the bridge, yelped and made him tremble. He had to talk a little louder so Kayleen could hear it. "If you're not yet a witch who has been conjured the storm, there is probably no need to apologize."
Kayleen: A faint smiled curled her lips but disappeared again when she spoke. No, no witch yet. She swallowed any further words and rested her head against her knees for a bit, closing her eyes. Suddenly, just after a few moments of peace, the hollow of the bridge was abruptly lit up, followed by deafening crackling and rumbling air. A jolt went through Kayleen and she would have screamed if it hadn't gotten caught in her throat. Frantically she tried to back up but there was no way to go. Instead one of her hands ended up grabbing Hawl's shirt and without thinking she hid her face against him.
Hawl: "Well..." His posture remained unchanged. The cold bothered him more than the thunder and the twitching of lightning. But when Kayleen hid her face against him he slowly turned his head around a bit. As before, he found Kayleens fears exaggerated, but still felt responsible to calm her down "You don't need to be afraid. We are safe here."
Kayleen: Kayleen could feel new tears burn her eyes. "I know, I know" She whispered, trying to make the words mean something. Her fear was irrational, she knew that, but why didn't her heart and body know that? As only the howling of the wind and rain was left after the thunder, she slowly released her grip of Hawl's shirt, lifting her head up.
