My eye sees Laufey in the background (very clever, it is legible). It looks like a breakdown of sleep. Loki reminds mentally exhausted. Terrorized and terrified.
In my view, the roots of these look like bleeding flesh.

Loki is tortured terrified and haunted by Laufey.
The roots symbolyze the source of his deeds and they are bloody. Loki killed many people and he is paying for all. He is crying bloody tears which is ominous omen.
