Chapter Seven: Red Moon

Edward found himself in a snowy landscape after being ejected out of the portal.  He looked around to gain an insight on his surroundings.  "This is...." he says to himself.  "This is the Lunar Snowfields."  He looks up into the sky.  "A red moon.......  So that's why she came here."

Just then, a large explosion knocks him off his feet.  He turns around to see The Fallen, in full A.D.S. shell armor.  "Time for you to die Fullmetal." she says.  "Not a chance in hell."  says Edward.  He then transforms into Neo Shabranigdo, and materializes the Soul Drinker keyblade in his hand.  He manages to dodge The Fallen's next attack, and tries to follow it up with an attack of his own.  But The Fallen manages to boost back before the blade makes contact with her.  Edward then pulls out his Maximal chainshots, and opens fire.  However, the armor of the A.D.S. shell is too tough for his ammunition to penetrate.  The Fallen then follows up with a flamethrower attack.  Edward was barely able to dodge it in time.  The jet of flames melt the snow underneath it, exposing charred earth.

"What's the matter Ruby Eyes?" says Fallen, "Am I just too much for you?"  "I'm just getting started." says Edward as he transmutes his right arm into a chainsaw, and cuts into the flamethrower's fuel lines.  Fuel sprays all over the ground, soon catching fire.  The Fallen ejects the flamethrower from her armor, and throws the weapon, that catches on fire as soon as it is ejected, at Edward.  It explodes a few feet away for him, blinding him momentarily.  Just long enough for The Fallen to grab him by the throat.  Edward pulls out a sawed off shotgun, and fires it at The Fallen's faceplate.  The Fallen reels back, dropping Edward to the ground.  The optics in it's armor are damaged.  "I'll get you for that!" she yells out.  Several rockets launch out of the armor.  Edward tries his best to dodge them.  But one of the missiles hits it mark.

Edward tries to get up.  But The Fallen puts it's foot on him.  Edward can feel himself being crushed under the weight of the massive armor.  "I must say it's been fun." says Fallen, "but as with all things, this must come to an end.  Your time has come at last.  And not a single shadow for you to hide in anymore."  The Fallen starts to glow with orange flames from it's armor.  Edward is struggling to breath.  The end looked near......

Moments ago, back in the realm of Shambala........

Saber picks up Archer's blades, and points them at her heart.

"Please forgive me."

But, before she can run the blades through her, they're knocked out of her hand.  She looks at the blades to see two kunai daggers next to them.

"Please....." says Saber, "Just let me die."

"I can't let you do that." says Naruto, "Not when you still have something to live for."  "Shirou is dead." says Saber, "I killed him with my own hands....  I deserve to die!"

Nei slaps Saber across the face.

"Now," says Nei, "I can't say I know what you're going through, but this is not the answer.  You're taking the easy way out of this problem.  You are just as much of a victim here as he was.  You had no control over your actions.  They did."  "But I could have done something." says Saber, "I was able to stop myself before.  Why couldn't I then?"

"Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you must end your life." says Ciel, "Taking your own life is one of the greatest sins you can commit.  However, to learn from your mistakes, and to rise above them......  That takes true strength your majesty."  "I have no strength left." says Saber, "The one who gave it to me no longer exists."

"That is not true." says Nei.  She looks right into Saber's eyes.  "Arthuria, he's still alive."

Saber couldn't believe what she just heard.  Was it true?  Was her beloved Shirou still alive?  "However," Nei continues, "his life is still in jeopardy.  The only thing that can save him now is Avalon.  You have had it all this time.  You are the key to saving his life, and breaking free from Archaon's curse."  Saber had almost forgotten, both of Archaon's curse, and the fact that Shirou gave Avalon back to her at the end of the Holy Grail Wars.  This whole time, and she didn't even know......

"If Shirou was here," says Naruto, "what do you think he would say?"

She knew exactly what he would say.

"I have been so blind to the truth." says Saber, "But there may be a chance to redeem myself."  Just then, several Chaos creatures appear at the top of the tower.  "Go on ahead Arthuria." says Naruto, "We'll take care of things here."  "You're not as great as a fool as I first thought you were Naruto." says Saber, "Don't die on me."  "Don't plan to." says Naruto.  Saber then makes her way through the portal as the other begin their attack.

Meanwhile........

Edward is struggling to breath.  The end looked near......

Just then, The Fallen is hit with a grenade round.  Edward is barely able to escape with his life.  "You?!?!" says Fallen.  "You didn't think I would forget about you?" says Saber, "Say Ed, you ok there?"  "I'll live." says Edward, as he gets back on his feet.  "Thanks for the assistance there Arthuria."  "New era, new name." says Saber, "Just call me Saber now.  Now let's show this cybernetic bitch what happens when you mess with the Elric family."  "I don't know what happened to you," says Edward, "but it sure beats that emo attitude you had a while ago."  He then pulls out a sword from the shadows of his coat.  "I think this belongs to you."  He tosses it to Saber.  She knew what it was right away.  So did the Fallen.

"Impossible!" says Fallen, "It can't be...."  "But it is!" says Saber, "EXCALIBER!!!!!!!"

The bust of energy released from the sword cut through The Fallen's A.D.S. shell armor.  However, the Fallen was nowhere to be found.  "Teleported at the last second I see." says Edward, "Persistence, isn't she."  "Don't worry." says Saber, "She'll show up again.  Their kind always dose."  She then looks at Edward.  "I guess I should apologize for my attitude back there.  If it wasn't for.... an old friend of mine, I may have never seen what truly mattered.  I even forgot about Avalon."  She then holds out her hands, and draws the legendary item from her.  She then hands it to Edward.  "That ninja friend of yours and the others are still back there." she continues, "They told me you needed this to save Shirou's life."  "Arthuria...." says Edward, "I mean Saber, are you not going to come with us.  Shirou would be very happy to see you again."

At that moment, the gem in Saber's Cloneblade started to glow.  It felt like her arm was on fire.  But she hid her pain from Edward.  "I cannot." she says, "I can't face him after everything I did.  And I fear I don't have much time left.  I have no doubt in my mind that we will see each other again, but I may not be the same when that time comes."  She then runs away into the distance.

Edward just stood there for a moment.  He wanted to chase after her.  He wanted to tell her that he could fix her degrading process.  But, he knew that she would not listen to him.  Saber still had one battle left.  A battle against her inner demons.  Besides, if he did not return soon with Avalon, there would be nothing for Saber to return to.  "It will have to wait for another day." he says to himself.  "I will find you.  And I will bring you back to Shirou my mirror image.  Believe it."  Edward was stunned by what he just said.  He did not just pull a Naruto, did he?  Then he remembered, the others might need him.  He headed back into the portal, taking one last look over the disappearing silhouette in the distance of his twin cousin before walking through it, and it closed behind him.

Saber looked behind her as she ran.  She did not see him chase after her.  After a while, the pain got to her, and she fell to her knees.  Her conciseness was slipping.  The gem was glowing brighter.  It was as that Chaos said, the Cloneblade was taking over.  She looked up to the sky, gazing on the red moon.  She then started to hear singing in the distance......

Red moon....
Red moon....
Cleanses the sinful, and makes them anew....
Shining brightly, in the night's sky....
Waiting for the souls....
Who will be born again tonight....
Who will be born again tonight....

That was the last thing Saber remembers.....
