Description Episode 6

Cyris wakes from his sleep.  As he does every morning, he looks around his room for any sign of Carmilla.  Strangely, the succubus was nowhere to be found.

“I’d say she’s given up.” Cyris says to himself, “But I’m not that lucky.”

Cyris heads to the closet in the hallway, pulls a towel out of it, and heads to the bathroom.  He then knocks on the door.

“Anyone in there?” he calls out.  He gets no response.

He then opens the door, which was unlocked to begin with.  Right there in front of him was Carmilla, bathing in the tub.

“Good morning, lover.” Carmilla says to him, “I was wondering when you were going to show up.”  She then looks at him with a “come hither” look in her eye.  “Care to join me?” she asks.

“I see you’re taking a bath already.” says Cyris.  Not reacting to Carmilla’s offer.  “I’ll be out here until you’re done.”

“Come now.” says Carmilla, getting out of the tub.  Her naked body barely covered by soapy bubbles.  “I can wash your back, and we can see where it goes from there.”

“If you’re done, you may want to cover up before you catch a cold.” says Cyris, “I do want to take a shower when you’re done, alone.”

Carmilla lets out a small sigh.  “Give me five more minutes.” says Carmilla, slightly defeated.  It was the same every day.  She’d try to seduce him, and he’d just stone wall her passive aggressively.  Today however…

A little while later…

Carmilla walks into the kitchen, and already sees Amy there eating breakfast.  She was wearing an all-black dress.

“Going through an emo phase?” says Carmilla, jokingly.  “It doesn’t suit you.  Especially on this day.”

“February 14th.” says Amy, “Valentine’s Day.  I guess to someone like you, this would be a great holiday.”  As she says that, she tries to force a smile.

“What’s wrong?” says Carmilla, “I can tell something is up.”

“I guess brother didn’t tell you.” says Amy, “Valentine’s Day is also our parents’ anniversary.”

“So?” says Carmilla, “Forgot to get them a gift or something?”  Just then, Carmilla remembered. ”Oh…  I’m sorry.  I forgot your mother is…”

Amy is silent for a moment.

“I… don’t know much about what happened.” Amy says at last.  “But, she also died on Valentine’s Day too.”

“We’re going to the graveyard to pay our respects.” says Cyris, walking into the kitchen.  He too was dressed in black.  “We do so every year.”

“I’m guessing you want me to stay here then.” says Carmilla.

“That would be for the best.” says Cyris, “I’m sure Michael will be there.  I still have yet to explain you to him.  I’m not sure how he’ll react.”

Cyris always called his dad by his first name.  It always seems he was a bit distant from him.

“It’s kind of a shame you can’t meet him.” says Amy, “But, you being a succubus, and him…”

“Say no more.” says Carmilla, “I might be a demon, but I’m not totally heartless.”

“Sometimes I wonder.” Cyris thinks to himself.

An hour later, outside of a flower shop…

Cyris stands outside of the shop.  Across the street is the graveyard.

“Go on ahead, Amy.” says Cyris, “I’ll catch up after I get the flowers.”

“Alright, brother.” says Amy.  She then walks into the graveyard as Cyris goes into the flower shop.

As Cyris walks through the door, he sees a young man about his age standing behind the counter.

“I know why you’re here Cyris.” says the young man.  “I got the bouquet ready.”

“Thanks Jess.” Says Cyris, “You know how much this means to me.”

“More often than not.” says Jess, pulling a bouquet of peach, cream, lavender, and pink roses from the nearby fridge.  “I remember your dad getting red and salmon roses for your mom back when I was a kid.  They were her favorite.”  He then hands Cyris the flowers.

“I know.” says Cyris.  He then pays for the flowers.

“By the way.” says Jess, “What’s with that girl I’ve seen you with recently?”

“Don’t worry about her.” says Cyris, “She’s just a student who will be living with us for a while.”

“Doing anything special with her today?” says Jess, “Or is it not like that?”

“It’s not.” says Cyris, “I better get going.  I don’t want to be late.”

“I understand.” says Jess, “But, I’ll keep some roses on hold for you just in case.”

“No need.” says Cyris, “But I’ll keep that in mind.”

With that, Cyris leaves the flower shop.

Shortly thereafter…

Cyris enters the graveyard, and sees Amy there, waiting for him.

“Why are you waiting here?” says Cyris, “I’d thought you’d be at the grave now.”

“I wanted to wait for you brother.” says Amy, “Besides, look who’s there already.”

Amy points off towards the grave, and a man can be seen standing over it.  His eyes covered by a black hat, and clad in a trench coat of the same color.

“Would you like me to join you brother or…” says Amy.

“No need.” says Cyris, “You can say hi after we have our usual exchange.”

Cyris walks up to the grave, roses in hand.  He then places the flowers on the grave, and glances over at the man.

“Michael.” says Cyris.

“Nice to see you too, son.” Michael says.  “I’d ask for Amy over there to join us, but given our history…”

“I don’t intend to start an argument in front of mom here.” says Cyris, “You probably know I quit the church.  I can see the reasons why you did too.”

“I couldn’t stand their politics either.” says Michael, “You know I never wanted this life for you.”

“And you think leaving would have prevented me?” says Cyris, “I had to take care of my sister for the past three years because you weren’t there!”

“I had my reasons.” says Michael, “It was to protect you and your sister.  You know my reputation.  If they know you are my son…”

“Who?” says Cyris, “Who would even…”

“I can’t say.” says Michael, “I already lost your mom.  I can’t bear the thought of losing either of you.”

“Whatever…” says Cyris, “You’ve always kept me in the dark.  Even about mom’s death.  Unless you’re going to be honest with me…”

“I’d best be going.” says Michael, “I see I overstayed my welcome with you.”

Michael then turns to leave.

“Listen,” Michael continues, “just be careful out there.”

“Make sure to say hi to Amy.” says Cyris, “I promised that I’d let her talk to you after we were done.”

“I will.” says Michael.

Michael then walks down towards Amy, leaving Cyris to pay his respects.

“Hello Amy.” says Michael.

“Hey Dad.” says Amy, “How’s mom?”

It was an unusual question, but Amy couldn’t think of anything else to say.

“You know she misses you.” says Michael, “Even if you don’t remember much about her, you should know that much.”

“Yeah.” says Amy.

“Amy, my girl.” says Michael, “How have thing been recently?”

“It’s been alright.” says Amy, “You probably already know we had someone move in.”

“Being I still own the house,” says Michael, “it’s not like something you can keep from me.  I would like to see this girl.  So, where is she?”

“She…” says Amy “couldn’t come.  It’s not like she and Cyris are…”

“Say no more.” says Michael, “I understand.”

“Dad…” says Amy, “When are you planning to come back?”

“I don’t know yet…” says Michael, “Just be brave until I return.  It was nice to see you again, and I hope to return soon.”

“Goodbye… dad.” says Amy.

And with that, Michael leaves.  It breaks his heart to leave them, but it’s for their own protection…

After their father leaves, Amy joins Cyris at their mother’s grave.

Later that day...

Amy is walking around the mall with Carmilla.  She is trying to push the earlier sadness out of her mind.

“Thanks again for coming with me Carmilla.” says Amy, “I think it’s time for me to get back into my normal mindset.”

“You’re welcome.” says Carmilla, “As much as I want to be alone with Cyris, given the mood he’s in, I’ll try again tonight.”

“You’re a good friend, big sis Carmilla.” says Amy, “So, where to first?  Gamestop is having a sale today.”

“I was thinking about going into Victoria’s Secret to look for some Valentine’s Day outfits.” says Carmilla, “But I’m not seeing much new recently.”

“I think brother would just be happy if you kept your clothing on.” says Amy, “I know it’s Valentine’s Day and all, but sexy lingerie isn’t going to get you anywhere with him, at least today.  Just be yourself.”

“You do realize that I am being myself, right?” says Carmilla, “I am a succubus and all.”

“Yeah…” says Amy, adjusting her glasses.  “Sometimes I forget.”

“Well, what’s on sale at the game store today?” says Carmilla, “I myself am looking forward to the new upcoming Wii U demos.”

“On second though…” says Amy, “I think I have an idea.  Follow me.”

Meanwhile…

Cyris is working on an assignment for class.  There were no demonic attacks in the city recently, so there was no need to prep his weapons today.  It was rare these days, but a welcome break.  After finishing up the last essay, he sits back in his chair, and looks at the skylight, letting his mind wander for a moment.

“Oh Shit!  I forgot!”

Cyris jumps out of his chair, and grabs his jacket.  Every year he got Amy a small box of chocolates.  However, he forgot to get them.  He had to run to the store quick and get one.  Sure, there might not be much left, but he wasn’t going to forget this year.

Later, on his way home…

Cyris was barely able to find anything at the store.  It was a miracle that he was even able to find his sister’s favorite brand.  As he continues to walk down the road, he passes the flower shop.

“I’ll keep some roses on hold for you just in case.”

Jess’ words ring in Cyris’ head for a moment.  Sure, Camilla was a succubus.  She had tried to seduce him more time than he could count.  Hell, she was an annoyance at times.  But still…

“I guess if I’m getting my sister something, I might as well get Carmilla something as well.” He thinks to himself, “She might be a demon, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt.”

Later, when Cyris returns home…

Cyris opens the front door to the house, and notices Amy’s and Carmilla’s shoes near the door.  Little Alucard was curled on top of them.

“Hey guys.” says Cyris, “I’m back.”

“Welcome back, brother.” says Amy, walking in from the living room.  “I was wondering where you went.”

“Here.” says Cyris, handing her the box of chocolates.  “You didn’t think I’d forget, did you?”

“You’ve never disappointed me before.” says Amy, “Thank you.”

“So…” says Cyris, “Where did Carmilla run off to?”

Just then, Carmilla walks in.  A pink bow tied in her hair and a long pink and white sundress with a skirt reaching to her ankles.  There was a bit of a blush on her face.  Cyris is taken aback from the unusual sight, and drops the bouquet of red roses he was hiding behind his back on the floor.

“For me?” says Carmilla.

“Don’t get the wrong idea…” says Cyris, “I was trying to get cream colored roses, but all they had left was red.”

“But that means you appreciate me at least.” says Carmilla, “It’s a start in my opinion.”

“But that doesn’t mean I’ll…” Cyris begins to say.

“I have no intention to ask.” says Carmilla, “At least today anyway.”

“And I’ll leave you two alone for the night.” says Amy, grabbing Alucard and heading upstairs.

“So…” says Cyris, “now what?”

“I promised that I wouldn’t ask for sex.” says Carmilla, “And you know how hard that is for me.”

“So, we’ll have to play it by ear then…” says Cyris, “Have you eaten yet?”

“No.” says Carmilla, “Amy already had something, and I was waiting for you.”

“You and Amy planed this, didn’t you?” says Cyris, “That would explain why you’re dressed like that.”

“So then,” says Carmilla, “it’s Valentine’s Day, and it’s just the two of us…”

“I thought you said you weren’t going to ask for sex.” says Cyris.

“I’m not.” says Carmilla, “But a romantic dinner would be a good idea right now.”

“Right…” says Cyris, “Well, not romantic, but I’ll see what I whip up.”

It was strange for Cyris.  At any moment, he expected Carmilla to try and flirt or try to seduce him.  But, the entire evening, Carmilla did not once make a move on him.  Not during dinner, not while they sat on the couch, and not as the evening drew to a close.

“I’m surprised Carmilla.” He tells her as he heads to his room, “You really did keep your word.”

“Well,” says Carmilla, “given the sadness you had earlier, you deserve some happiness today.”

“I know…” says Cyris, “The time we spent tonight made me forget it for once.  You know, tonight almost felt like…”

“…A date?” says Carmilla.

“As much as I hate to admit it,” says Cyris, “that’s what I was about to say.  We should do this again sometime.”

“Okay then.” says Carmilla.

“Good night, Carmilla.” says Cyris, closing the door to his room.

Carmilla unties the pink bow from her hair.

“Damn.” she says to herself, “I thought for sure the soft sell tactics would make him putty in my hands for sure.  Oh well, Amy was just trying to help.  Looks like it’s back to basics for me.”

Carmilla reaches out for the doorknob of Cyris’ bedroom door.  But, she hesitates for a moment.

“On second thought…” Carmilla says, “I gave my word.  What kind of honorable demon would I be if I did not keep it?  I’ll start tomorrow.”

Carmilla then walks to her room to turn in for the night.

It was being worked on, but a combination of writer's block, and the AC jack on my Notebook PC failing, will make it a while before it will be ready.
