I don't get that "I have to hate her" way of thinking. I find Jilani to be the only one who really search for truth. She question everything and that's what the Citadel needs. It's far more gratifying to make her the fool with her questions.
Shepard should not be as weak as to just snap for this.
BUT the way you bring it, I can understand she just ask the wrong questions, in the wrong moment.

You're right in saying that she's looking for the truth, in fact that's what Shepard says in the third game when s/he confronts her in the embassies. I didn't want to say that punching her is the "right thing to do" here but which option my Shepard took to show that she had a lot on her plate at that moment and that she's quite the renegade (because in the game there's that renegade interruption there). I didn't felt Shepard was weak for snapping, just that she's fed up with the situation she's in: being resurrected and "forced" to work with Cerberus, being along after two years, being rejected by the Alliance and the Council, the threat of the Reapers being reduced to the sayings of a mad woman... Kalisah just happened to be there at a bad moment.

After playing the Shadow Broker DLC and going through the entire video archive, I was so grateful to Bioware for putting in those vids of Khalisah taking hits from a big Krogan and a small Volus.
After all the crap she's had to put up with, the LAST thing she needs is a piece of varren dung like that so-called reporter.

I didn't know you could hit her in ME1, and I wasn't very sure what to expect from that renegade interruption, but the punch was so satisfying... And presenting it as a way of "blowing off steam" after all that she's been through, fits with my Shepard's personality.
She treated Wong quite good. I think she liked her.
