Umm, the Rachel I'm talking about is a brunette. The picture frame is on the left side of the image where it shows 2 kids. Rachel is the one on the left, and to me from that angle she looks a lot like your Shepard.

This is something I wanted to say him since the third time he says "Calibrations". In fact, I can picture this scene in my head while choosing team members for missions.
Yes! In the game, you give new weapons to the squaddies like... out of the blue, and I wanted to male it more... believable and make the most of the B-day present. She's still has one left though
I wanted to make her more worried than unhappy: they know what happens with the colonies, but they don't know the consequences. She still has feelings for Kaidan, despite knowing two years has gone by and probably Kaidan has moved on during the time.

That's what The Illusive Man tells you when he's about to send you to Horizon: the colony has gone silent and that's what happened with all the abducted colonies (like Freedom's Progress) just before the Collectors attacked. I'm not sure if I made myself clear... Any doubt, just ask

FINALLY!!!!... "Forget the calibration" ...more or less. And she pulled it off with such ease... blessed be the artistic freedom. I say that too often but it keeps coming back at me when I read your work
I must say it is refreshing to see Garrus like a kid at christmas... staring into the box in awe at one of the best Sniperrifles in the game. The Widow is my personal fave... its like having a 50. cal rifle with ya. One shot, one kill.
And this is going to be dramatic... Kaidan... it is gonna be hard on poor Ayren... Glad she's bringing Garrus with her to comfort her afterwards... or smack Kaidan over the head for being a narrowsighted fool.

I wanted so so much to do that in the game: Stop calibrating and look at me! And tell me something! Anything! I think that you're going to like a lot one chapter I'm working in now, if you appreciate that much the artistic freedom
I have to try the widow one day, but yes, I wanted to make Garrus look happy and excited about the rifle. He says many times he loves his rifle, so why not giving him one like Shepard's?
Well, Horizon is a turning point in the (game) story for me, so I want to give that feeling also here. I'll let you judge if I manage it or not. As for Garrus smacking Kaidan... I'll let you see.

Yep, the Extranet was specilly usefull for that purpose.
More than helping the reader to identify the rifle, the purpose of the colour was to stablish a parallel with the previous chapter (in both the gifts were coloured), though I must ask: is it jarring in this chapter or you find the colours off in general?
You know, I was a little afraid of the use of the "spirits" there because I know is something completely non-canon but fanon... My main problem is that even though I could track which is the first fic where it appears, I don't remember which is the first fic I read that used the expression. Anyway, I also feel it's something he could say.
