Description
I may get a commission for a watercolour painting with flowers. What? I don't usually paint flowers! Why should I start now?
Well, the fact that they woulld be commissioned (a sure sale ) does have something to do with it . But so does the fact that I love flowers. Is there anyone on earth who doesn't? Even my cats love flowers so much that they eat them!
So I decided to hone my flower-painting skills and, in the process, get myself a bunch of appropriate watercolours because guess what. Flowers are not colour-shy, they don't care about Western Minimalism or Eastern Wabi-Shabi-ism They display vivid, provocative colours in all their glory!
So, to add to my existing stock of watercolours, I bought a tube of Holbein Opera (attention, lovers of pink), Holbein Lavender (sweeeet), Schmincke Horadam Cadmium Orange Light (and bright) and Winsor and Newton Manganese Blue Hue.
The first thing I did was just try them out on a sheet of Hahnemühle watercolour paper. No flowers yet, just washes and stains. I love the way they pop! And since I love it, I had to share it with you. Next step will be actually painting some flowers. Next-next step will be getting the commission. I'll keep sharing the results.
Have a wonderfully colourful weekend, buds!
