I think it is fine to turn the frame of the photo as long as you support this idea, which is exactly what I think you did with this one. My one bit objection is the lower image which is not as powerful as the one in the poster, making the photo slightly unbalanced.
Although I haven't added you on my watch list, I come across your pictures very often and I am always amazed by your quality. Keep it up!
