You know, these guys actually feel like a military strike team, even though they have conflicting personalities:
-Swindle's the greedy one who would sell his friends' spare parts in a second if he'd make a profit. I bet his fellow Combaticons don't fully trust him
-Brawl just wants to hurt people, to which I'm sure Onslaught is more than happy to grant his request...as long as Brawl points his guns at the Autobots. ^_^
-Vortex is...not a stabilizing agent if you know what I mean.
-Blast Off sees himself above his common Decepticon and Combaticon brethren, which usually is not a good attitude to have when you are NOT in charge
-And then Onslaught leads them with a calm and strategic attitude...until things don't got according to plan. THEN he can be as violent and destructive as Brawl.
So yeah, these kinds of personalities don't usually mix well, especially within one unit. But when on duty, fighting against the Autobots, they put their personal feelings aside and get the job don...like any military squad should do.

I was always a bit.... disillusioned by the Space Shuttle character in the Combaticons.
I mean, I love Blast Off (and I think Mov-Or is the dumbest name on Car Robots) but it's more than a little weird than in either of his forms he is barely larger than Swindle and it's just astounding that this dude is mostly seen hovering or flying through on the air and not carrying his buddies on space missions.
