Description Living out in the suburbs of western Sydney, it's sometimes very easy to forget just how beautiful Australia really is.

It's nice to go somewhere where you can be reminded.

---
January 2005, Narooma (South Coast of NSW, Australia)
Canon EOS 300D
----

I don't think I've ever been in a building older than 150 years.... which may seem unusual to some people, like Europeans, who live in a place surrounded by old buildings and streets. Australia, as it is today, is only young.... but the ground we walk upon is ancient. I wonder how old that rock is? How many times it's seen the tide come in and go out? The oldest known rock in the world, is a tiny grain of zircon crystal from Western Australia. It has been dated at 4.4 BILLION YEARS OLD.
Just as everything appears in this photo..... it could have been taken at any time, long before we damn English came in and pushed the original inhabitants, the Australian Aboriginals, around. It could be from a time when buildings and roads were thousands and thosands of miles away, across the Pacific. Out to the horizon there..... there is really no significant landmass until you reach South America. I guess that might be hard to picture for someone living in say.... Slovakia, surrounded by other countries.
I really believe that this photograph doesn't really belong to any particular time....

Until of course I remember, that it's a photograph.

Have a nice day!

That is exactly what I love about Australia. And my family, of course. But it's the overwhelming beauty that takes your breath away. Photos don't usually capture that, but you have.

I love this shot.

The angle is PERFECT and all the elements of mother nature is there too; the trees, sky, ocean and earth.

Nice work. I shall fav this piece.

it must be a pretty old crystal because the earth is only predicted to be 4.5 billion years old. Anyway nice photo and I like the way you have modified the colours a bit and also its a good composition.

wow thats really nice. did you change the colors? its hard to believe they are natrual because they are so bright it hurts my eyes.

It got a very transparent layer of my digital cross process techinque, and contrasts + saturation.

None of my digital photographs are without Photoshop of some sort - I always give the colours a kick. What I never do though is change the actual structure of the photo.... as in moving elements around, cloning things etc. I like to keep it still in a 'photographic' state, and not move it into the realm of 'photomanipulation'.

But yes, I do work my photos to acheive the greatest potential from the colours, and I don't really have a problem with it, because I consider myself a Visual Artist rather than a Photographer

Batemens Bay is quite close to this place. I was amazed at how much blue/green/clear the ocean looked, compared to Sydney Harbour and Sydney beaches.

Fantastic shot, well composed. The colours are so rich and vivid. Tis kinda strange seeing you do more "traditional" photography, as opposed to the more fine art style you usually do, but you clearly are great at both

Yeah, I'm a little lost on where I am with my photos at the moment. Mostly I'm just practicing Photoshop techniques on old photos, because it's just too damn hot to go out and get some new ones. But today I HAVE to go out, so I'll look for some urbanisms

I do wish dA allowed you to split your gallery up. I want people to see all my abstracts and paintings together, my nature shots together etc.

But anyway, I guess a photo opportunity is a photo opportunity

Thanks for your comment!

Yeah, thats true. Most people either watch me for my painting or my photography, rarely both... would be handy to have different sections to upload to so the interested paries would just be exposed to the certain bits they wanted.

Yes, the Blue Mountains are very very nice. I live in the area about 25 mins east of Penrith.... so it's closer to the city. But really the area is just very boring and culturally devoid

This photo was taken about a 6 hour drive south of Sydney.
