Description Edit: September 23, 2011
------
I think I'll be going trough everyone and giving them all a final look. Everyone has changed somewhat since they've gone up, haha.

Anyhow. Leonard has been decided.

Took away the wheat stalk. It seems like something he'd have at the farm, not on a day-to-day basis.
Took away saddlebags, same reason as above.
Removed white spots. Could never remember to draw them.
Removed the horseshoe necklace. Felt cluttered.
Gave him "fingers" with cloven hooves.

Edit: June 21, 2011
------
Added a scarf to "tame" him.
Lengthened his bangs and turned the "sideburns" into long hair.
Freckles and white spots.

Leo needed to show his background more than he was. The characters' backstories aren't really all that important this time around, but it's still important to show where they came from. Celia will probably get a little spruce up also.

Edit: May 8, 2011
------
Gave Leo the same cervine anatomy "makeover" as Celia.
Darkened the markings.
Made his antlers more prominent.

Original Post

He doesn't look too different from Celia in terms of color scheme, but I attribute that to him being of the same species.

Aside from his color scheme, Leo is very much different. As deer inspired some of the design for the species when I designed Celia, I went on to try adding antlers to its males. That was about the point I decided to try and bring Leo over into this new world. xD

The long hair on his head is from an idea I'm toying with, where depending on which element a creature sides its magic with, it has a different physical appearance. It isn't a sudden physical change, though... there's a lot to it, so I'll save that for later.

Anyhow, the hair is something I decided an Air variation of the species would have. Their bodies are lighter and more agile, as they also lack the plant on their back that encumbers Earth variations. In that same vein, their bodies do not produce vital nutrients for plant life to grow from them.

I'm still thinking a little bit about what Leo's background story will be. I'm not sure if I want to go back to the orphaned kid who was raised by a farmer again. |D

Now it's like a posh, city girl is trying to marry a country boy. Is that why they have to elope?

Awesome!

Personally, I like the hair on the side of his head. I think it suits him.

So there's element-based alignment in this world? Are there any other alignments?
What elements are there (I'm guessing Earth, Water, Fire and Air, but are there others?
Can any species use any magic, or are some less proficient/ entirely useless in certain magics?

I'm not 100% certain of how it will work, but I can answer to the best of what I've got.

Any one creature can use any kind of magic, provided they know how to perform it.

There are the four primary elements of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. There are also other types of magic, such as Electricity, Frost, Poison, etc.

Variations of species exist, and they are typically of the primary elements. If a creature of one particular variation, such as an Air variant using Air magic, they're more proficient in its use than they would be at any other element. The only real limitations are how well-practiced they are and what body type they have.

Are those antlers for decoration? They're way to small (and frankly stupid looking) to serve any other purpose.

Meh... I'm actually fond of them. They did turn out a little smaller than I intended, though.

I notice you have a thing for the "cunning mischievous grin" design.

I haven't really put too much thought into it... but I probably should if it'll be a big part of the story. xD
