Oh, SNAP! This is simply gorgeous. I did a crow piece a while back: [link] and I feel like a prick now that IΒ΄ve seen yours, mr Bryce. ItΒ΄s so effective and powerful, yet simple and right on spot. I tried to fancy mine with details and other stuff, but lacks of your synthesis. I still have a lot to learn...Oh well.
All the best, sir

That's pretty incredible. The design elements really fit well with the sharp lines on the character.

Thank you, sometimes I actually plan things out ahead, and they come together nicely like this!

That's pretty rockin' C-money.
I enjoy the dark palette you went with, and the vertical sized image. To me it gives the illusion of flight. Rock on C-Money. Rock on.

Thanks Zach!! I went with more of a French Gray tonal spectrum. It's all about using composition to your advantage. Since you can't exactly do a diagonal piece posted on the internet...or not that successfully, using the vertical placement helps with movement. Also the direction of the feathers!

Oh indeed, diagonal pieces just don't fly. *feather pun*

I agree, I liked his work so much more before he went full photo trace/reference. he had a really cool, gritty style!

I remember reading the first episode of the Crow in, I believe, Caliber Presents #1. You could feel O'Barr's passion for the project pouring out of every panel. Although I followed many of the later sequels drawn by others, they never really measured up. I did like the first movie though.
PS - Dig THIS drawing!

He is SUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCHHH a nice guy! I've gotten to meet him a number of times because he's Dallas-local. I've never asked him about the Crow because it's obviously such an emotional piece. He really did pour his heart and soul into it. I think it's hard to live up to that kind of passion for other people working on it.
