Unwinding from a rather long day of study for tomorrow's mid-term.

Jess resisted the urge to lean forward. She liked riding side-saddle on level arenas or through sunny meadows, but she wasn't sure how smart it was now, over rough broken ground covered in snow, through naked saplings that tore at her hem and hat.

Saint leaped lightly forward. He snorted "I can smell her," he called.
"There she is!" Jess pointed, as if the big white stallion could see, through the trees to the splash of red and orange.
Saint was off again, tails lashing the drifted snow into a whirlwind of flakes. Jess clung on, part of her expecting a fall at any moment, and part of her knowing the eight-legged horse would never stumble. She hoped the fox would be safe too.
