That is a good suggestion, I do seem to waste a lot of space, space that could be filled by more metal! lol! But that is all good, next time it will be ever better! This was the best trade evaaaaar!!! I don't know how we are going to top ourselves, but we will find a way!

Naw, here's exactly what I did, all in photoshop:
Behind pikachu, I made a big jagged block of light blue with the pen tool. On the layer style, I gave it a stroke with a slightly darker blue, and also an inner and outer glow. I rasterized the layer, then used the paintbrush to make more lines coming out of it, and make it look less blocky.
Above pikachu and everything else, I made a new layer for the lightning. I made a few quick lines, then in the Layer Style menu gave it an outter glow. When I ws happy with the glow, I used the paintbrush again to make the rest of the lines over the blue block, and all around the figure. I used varying degrees of lighter blue, but mostly white.
The base under Pikachu is a custom shape oval, also with Layer effects inner and outter glow.
The pain in the ass part is getting the lightning to look beleivable, something I think I failed at, but it is enough to make me happy
