Description
This is Sofia Tarasovna. She’s my altered Rusalka, musician. She plays the flugelhorn and trumpet, and is selectively mute.
Rusalki are water spirits. Their story originates in Russia. They are said to be naked women who wander around fields and water crops with the water that drips of their bodies. They were once normal women but commit suicide and drowned, and now live as Rusalki.
Sofia was a farmer’s daughter. She killed herself at age 32 and came back as a Rusalka. She knows the struggles of droughts and travels the world helping farmers by watering their crops when they are unable to. She can live in any area that’s near at least a small body of water, whether it be pond or Great Lake. The longest time she can be out of water is for 7 full days.
Now Rusalki are supposed to be completely naked (or pretty much naked), but for obvious reasons, I decided not to do that. So I gave her a skirt that technically is also a part of her. So yes, she is topless.
Her emotional state will also affect her physical appearance. None of the drawings here show her in a neutral state, but basically the dress sits normally, and her hair is much straighter and doesn’t flare out like it does in the big image. The happier she gets, the more her dress and hair flare out. She also may seem younger or prettier. When she gets sad, she’ll drip more water, and seem to age, seeming closer to around the age she killed herself. There is no floating whatsoever. She will leave behind puddles. When angered, her dress and hair will float, but much more than when happiness, and they will actually look more like she is underwater. Any water that comes off her body will float as well. And her body changes so she appears more and more like a corpse.
Sofia is constantly dripping water, but will drip more or less water depending on her mood. A moderate amount when neutral or happy, a lot when sad, and she’s driest when angry.
While traveling, Sofia has made many friends and learned many things. Which is how she learned the flugelhorn and trumpet.
I originally made her for a roleplay, but I do like her design, and may use it, or draw her more in the future.
