Description From my second year of college, this was a series of studies of an object using four different criteria. A stright "realistic" sketch, a contour line drawing, a picture of the essence of the subject without drawing the subject and a way of implying the object without drawing the object directly. It was a heck of a challenge, but I got an "A" on it.

I can see why, it certainly deserved it.

Thanks! It was a tough class because the professor was pretty flakey and didn't really.. teach anything.. he just talked about stuff and a lot of his memories from the old days of teaching and .. that was about it.. kind of a disapointment really. But I survived the class anyhow and with a decent grabe (somewhere in the "B's" I think. I don't think I did any ink work after that for college though.. strange...

That would make things difficult. I had a teacher like that for one of those stupid classes that you have to take, I think it was like Society and change or something like that so it wasn't like I had that much to learn to begin with.

I've never actually taken an art course in school, I find the idea of my art being graded to be very intimidating.

Hehe.. actually since it is your work being reviewed by a professor, they're very open minded and fair about it, as long as they think you worked very hard or put some effort into it and grew as an artist. The only time I ever saw someone get bad grades was when they either had NO TALENT at all or they tossed together poop and the lack of effort showed. and even then i've seen poor effort get praise... so... it is hard to lose.

Now people on sites like this being critical, or other students talking smack.. thats a whole different story

the art teacher at my highschool scared me, and I had a really terrible art teacher in grade 8 so I was just like no. I'll just teach myself. And I like ot think I'm doing an okay job. Plus little bits of advice I find are much more usefull then sitting in a lecture for an hour.
