Yea. Some people don't even try with bases. They just put on clothes and hair and that's it. No special effects or anything.

yeah. that saddens me. the misuse of bases has sadly caused many people to dislike them. many base edits i can't stand. I mean, some people edit a base to an Invader Zim theme. sheesh. the results are usually terrible! They are so lazy and even leave on the nose and ears with zim and they also dont color in the dark tan line green. It ends up looking horrible and cheep and rushed and crappy. I mean, if they can't draw then why are they even here, and shouldn't they at leat put some effort in it?

Exactly. Bases should be treated like coloring linearts. People don't complain about people coloring linearts. No doubt it's because most of the time the coloring is really well done. People have seen really good coloring on linearts, but they also have seen really bad uses of bases. The bad use of bases is really putting a bad look on using them themselves.
