I'm curious, do you have any tips for creature creating? I've been working on making the Auk more lifelike, trying to make them more suited to their environment... it's an ongoing process and sci-fi/speculative bio isn't my strong suit!

I think the best tip I can give you is to look at nature. Look at TINY things in nature, there is some truly bizarre looking organisms that can provide a wealth of inspiration for odd looking aliens

Actually I don't know much about Bex culture. We need some of that shit, yo. Unless of course it already exists, in which case, I need to find that shit... yo.
My furry critters are constantly dealing with wars over cultural cleansing and resources, but aside from that they're pretty chill. They like lethal games of gambling and have four eyes. At least one of those, the Bex can relate to.

I haven't posted much on Bex culture actually, most of that's still just notes floating around. I should flesh that out more. I try to work from the ground up, which means fleshing out at least a little bit of the world they live in before fleshing out the intricacies of culture.
