Description I had heard of the "Nebulous" radio series and seen the CD in Waterstones so when I saw the program on BBC7's listen again list, I decided to give it a go despite not really knowing what it was about apart from having Mark Gatiss in it as the title character. My God, how I laughed!
I've since bought the first series and am happily listening to the second on BBC7 on Mondays.

Set in the year 2099, the Earth is barely recovering from an event known as The Withering where the loss of all basic human knowledge led to mass chaos as no-one could agree on how things were meant to be run (the government, religion, technology, etc.) Post-Withering the planet is in disarray with the eco-system shattered, leading to the whole new season of Hamble, new months in the calender and the loss of Thursday.

The series follows the adventures of KENT (The Key Environmental Non-Judgemental Taskforce) headed by Professor Nebulous whose job it is to get the planet back on track, however they also find themselves regularly saving Earth from alien invasions, meglomaniacs and science experiments gone wrong.
Nebulous is a brilliant man (clearly a cross between Professor Quatermass and the Doctor), who has cured things like cancer and blindness yet unfortunately, is also known as the man who accidently destroyed the Isle of Wight!
He now languishes in the severely underfunded KENT with the extremely ditzy Paula, the immature Rory and the tormented Harry.

Further explanation: Nebulous is a man haunted by his childhood. Whenever he hears the word "Clown" it sends him hurtling backwards into a nightmarish flashback. His parents were clowns you see and wanted him to carry on the family business!
Paula has a powerful crush on Nebulous but he has failed to notice despite it being really obvious at times. Perhaps he just assumes that she has a lack of respect for personal space!

The quote at the moment that's going through my head is:
Klench: "Nebulous? How dare you drift off when I'm threatening you!"
Nebulous: "Just because I'm lying on the floor, twitching, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with me!"

Thanks! And I'm glad that people can recognise the Gatiss-ness of it!

Hmmm. I've never heard of this show before. Then again, we don't really have ANY radio shows here in the states. A pity, really, cause this sounds really amusing. Maybe I'll try looking it up. I love the character you drew, he looks awesome.

Thanks! I just find something highly amusing about a character who faints every time he hears the word "clown!"

The series is also one giant spoof on british sci-fi shows especially Doctor Who so there's that to enjoy as well!
