He is adorable though! Make sure you have an oven thermometer. I usually cook my pieces on a tile and then cover them with parchment and sometimes aluminum foil...sometimes both. The high points (ears/wings) have scorched on me before I started doing this. My toaster oven was/is terrible about having a steady temp so as MayEsdot said, a lower temp for longer is helpful especially when you have larger pieces to bake.

Yes, my next purchase for claying is an oven thermometer, haha. It's so hard without one, now that I'm scared of burning them. I love cooking them on the tiles, I started out that way with some heavier paper over top for protection from the top too.

He is so adorable, I really like his expression with those eyes. How are you baking him that you're having burning troubles? I bake about fifteen degrees under what the box says for around 40 minutes and check on them often and I've only ever had one Crack, and never one burn.
