I remember seeing one of these make a fly by at the McGuire AFB air show in 1981.

Because the F-106 is the best of the Century Series.

The F-106 was particularly beautiful when in a break over the field for landing. Seeing that big delta planform was striking!
I still prefer the F-102 over the F-106 however.

Yeah it was a gorgeous airframe. I think of anyone who's familiar with those aircraft, I don't find many who like the F-102, cool stuff.

The F-106 was very successful. It was a very powerful aircraft with a good fire control system. The weak point of all air defense acft of it's genre was the Hughes AIM-4 Falcon missile

Okay, my mistake. There was another one with a similar canopy that I was thinking of (I think!)

Not too often you see an F-106 and an F/A-18 in the same picture.

The F-18's came into service around 1982. The F-106 was retired in Aug 1988.
The acft in the background were early F-18B (TF-18A) aircraft from the VFA-125 training squadron.

You sure it's from New Jersey?

I was never a fan of the "new" iteration of the New Jersey marks like on this acft, but it IS an F-106!
