First Born 2 - Acrylic - 24" x 36" - December 2010This was my last painting from 2010. It is the second I did of my daughter Rebecca holding one of the kittens brought into our household last February. She's the first born, and so is the kitten... hence "First Born"... Couldn't think of anything else!
I still prefer the first one painted: [link] as it is a lot brighter than this second one.... but I just had to paint both!

Thank you! Yes, I think I must... for some reason, the feedback I've received revolves around the good feelings that I bring, by capturing these intimate and person moments in portraits. It's good to hear this, because I usually paint what strikes me as happy or spontaneous moments that make me smile, so it's wonderful when I hear that it has the same effect on others!

thanks! Really? Funny, isn't it? For some strange reason, I really wasn't that pleased with how this one turned out (I think a lot has to do with the background colour), but I'm glad it still has some appeal! I loved painting the hands for both, as well as her checked top.

I love the hands in this one, the way it lines up with the face and frames that lower right part of the painting and the warm shade on the shirt helps to move the eye to the tiny kitten.

You know, the canvas is still sitting on my easel... I keep thinking I should still do a few touch-ups here and there. I do love how the hands turned out, so will unlikely touch them at all... would like to work on her hair a bit more on the left-hand side, and maybe try to do something with the background... maybe tone the orangy-red down a bit... we'll see... might just leave it as well! Get mighty bored sometimes when things don't seem to go the way I want them!
