Not only that, thanks to Autism Speaks, people with autism like me and you get a bad rap, all because of ignorance and not doing proper research.

OH DON'T BE MISTAKEN.
I am freeform Spiritualist, not Christian.
I abandoned organized faith a very long time ago, BUT, God is the center of my everything
But also AWWW THEN I'M GLAD YOU ARE HAPPY WE ARE THE WAY WE ARE, because a God-loving spiritualist in any form who's pro LGBT+ is a dime a dozen.
Bless YOU, friend!!
She appreciates it!!! <333

Both of you have my 100% support. Β
No one should have to feel ashamed because of their orientation or should get told to go to hell because of it.
Its a real shame that so many people are still like that. Like guys this is the 21 century but at times I feel like its just 21 bc.
I think everyone should be allowed to love who they want no matter the gender, race or something- Unless its a kid or animal- that-no.
And then pulling the whole "GOD H8ES GAYES!!!1!!11!!1!"-number is just one of the lowest things one can do. I would really love if one of those people could mark that part in the bible where god himself says he hates homosexual people.
And even if it was in the bible, one should not use it as reason to hate ALL people with a different orientation. Very religious or not, I think no one should hate other people because of their religion.
If the bible would say "cucumbers are gay" would then all these people hate cucumbers as well and just burn all the cucumbers they would find? Would these people go to the local super market and shout at the cucumbers?
I personally am not really sure about my orientation. I do have interest in.. well exactly one very special... "man" but other than that, I don't feel attracted to any other man or woman for that matter. Though when looking at a female body and a male body, I think the female body looks... uuhh I guess more charming?? But the male looks more like something I could use a shield and hide behind- jk
And other than this one "guy".. I've like never even thought "boy this person right there looks so sexy/attractive".
Either way.. I'm glad he seems to share the same feelings for me too. And if he does not I'm going to be utterly brokenΒ Β

OMG "cucumbers are gay" lmao, but they probably would!
But the thing is there are other things the Bible says not to do, LIKE MM, NOT JUDGE OR KILL PEOPLE.
OR CHEAT.
OR WEAR SOCKS, BASICALLY.
WTF.
AWWW huh, idk what that would be then??
Some branch of asexuality?
Bah you don't need a label anyhow, but if you figure out what it might be i would be very interested in that!!

yeaaaaah I saw that, what an absolute train wreck, I feel like people copy paste ,sometimes valid, arguments and just throw them everywhere without taking ithe context in consideration. 90% of the drama these days isn't even people actually worried about the matter, its just them hoping to feel superior by accusing others and it's tiring

Confrontation should involve some manner of learning and growing, not shutting down and being a little bitch over it.
And i CANNOT tell you how happy i was to be called a coward a THIRD TIME for hiding comments, just so i could hang that last dumbass out to dry and watch her fend for herself.
I tried to be nice, but third time was the charm.
Thankfully for her i still give a shit and talked someone out of chewing her ass out.

I'm LDS myself and can I please say that doesn't automatically make someone a homophobe? Even if they oppose gay marriage etc? If Kitten's parents don't understand her attraction to members of the same-sex and trans/non-binary people, I don't even think that automatically makes them "homophobes". I'm pretty asexual and have never come out to my family. They just know I want to get married someday and have little desire for sex, so I don't think I need to bother telling them. However, I did have a conversation before I knew the term "asexual" with a youth leader at church about how I didn't really want to have sex because I thought it was gross. She gave me some really bad advice, such as how I "HAD" to have sex with my husband or I'd end divorced. Despite that, I don't consider her "aphobic". She just didn't realise that she was giving me bad advice! I don't consider my parents "aphobic" either.
Having learned how NOT to behave from LGBT people who'll slap the "homophobe" label on any strong Christian (or Muslim, Jew etc) I've decided I'm only going to call people aphobic if they genuinely hate ace people. If her family merely want to encourage Kitten to marry a guy and aren't hateful, then they are not homophobes!

Fae-CaptainofDreams In reply to NeversideFaerie [2018-08-06 18:33:35 +0000 UTC]
I understand and i do know for a fact that being religious and even opposing gay marriage doesn't automatically make someone phobic.
But her family IS.
They make fun of gay people, they slander gay people, they're very rude and if Kitten came out they would certainly shame her for it.
It's not the harmless "haha, gay people" making-fun-of, it's straight up ignorance and learned homophobia.
My mom isn't a homophobe but she isn't sure whether or not it's okay to be gay and it straight up grosses her out when she sees it.
She's torn between wanting to open her mind or stay tethered to heavily religious roots, much of which is laced with false information and taught intolerance.
Some of her distaste for it i understand, but knowing my mom i know where it comes from.
I applaud you on being able to recognize bad advice!
As it is, many aces marry and have perfectly healthy relationships without being very physical or sexual (in which case usually both people are asexual, but it's not impossible).
Kitten is just learning that she genuinely doesn't want to be part of the church anymore because it teaches something that is incorrect, and if she were to fully embrace the church she'd have to embrace every aspect of it and she can't do that -- same reason i left Christianity, only mine was on a more broad spectrum.
We've been spending some of our call time reading the Bible and once we get through that we intend on reading other religious books and texts and furthering our studies together while taking input from more open-minded sources and actual linguists.
So i hope this didn't offend you, and also i'm glad you said what you said and i want it to be known that religious =/= homophobic.
<3

Well, amidst a slew of torment and "God hates you" speeches and protests i've heard/seen, you appear to be an exception as opposed to the rule, even though the rule IS to love thy neighbor and be like Jesus.
Your compassion and empathy has me a little spellbound, bless you.
Oh, it is DEFINITELY possible to be too open-minded, such as in the case of crime, pedophilia and other dark subject matter.
Lines have to be drawn, and actual sickness has to be recognized.
Pedos have been trying to obtain rights the same way gays have been, but what people don't seem to grasp is that being gay and being in a consenting relationship with another adult human being of any gender is harmless.
Being attracted to/having sex with children is not.
They're not capable of consent, it leaves major psychological and even physical damage on them and causes a vicious cycle.
I know that sounds out of left field but it's my biggest example of "too much of an open mind."
Believing the earth is flat is another, but then again i think those people are just legitimately insane, idk
There are countless other examples, but i digress.
I didn't mean to just straight up single out religious people, but homophobia and intolerance is mostly where it stems from -- particularly in Christianity.
And gay people don't get a free pass when it comes to being a decent human being, just like black people shouldn't be excused from the consequences of being racist, too.
We as a species seem to have a majorly horrible time finding balance and realizing that balance is not found by punishing the group that has done wrong as a way to "make up" for what they did, but rather to learn from what we've done wrong and embrace equality.
We're supposed to be taking steps forward to show we're capable of learning and evolving.
Such as, in being hired for the right job out of qualification without a major regards to diversity.
I understand wanting diversity, but that shouldn't be what gets someone a job.
Neither should being gay.
I understand some of the mentality, but that doesn't make it right.

I should clarify. I'm a being that's existed for hundreds of years and because I'm not a people person and don't talk to people enough, I don't exactly know what people are going on about when they say TGIF and WIP and BYOB.
Just kidding, but that's what it feels like.
