Just some idle speculation....
We know that Gil (Gilgamesh?) the lonely 'Loater was once occupied by the dominant Jervil fragment, as well as his own lesser one, and that both were pounded out of him by Elina. What I'm curious about is whether Gil's status as former "wayside inn" has affected him in such a way as to render him potentially sensitive to the Hellbinder's approach, and perhaps even to allow him to establish a connection with the hive-mind inside Ole Helly. That could render his proximity problematic for Elina, especially if Gil manages to recall who it was who lobotomized him and stuffed him in a bird cage.
looking at Gil,I had this weird flash of him having a Hercules moment, and bending open the bars of his cage...

Hmmm. I like multiple choice. So the evil presence is gone as if (a) it was never there? Nope. We can safely rule that out. Or (b) it's just "disbanded?" Not sure she's feeling quite that lucky. Or (c) 'something else.' Yeah, 'something else' is definitely one way of putting it. Let's go with that one.
So she knows that the hellbinder calamity is not only possible but perhaps even probable, and she knows she's at ground zero of Evil Incorporated, yet she's a whole lot calmer than any rational person should be ... I'm wondering if she has a plan, a secret weapon, or is just insanely focused?

I personally suspect a little too much valerian and chamomile in her herbal tea. Calms you right down, that does, especially when you drink it in massive quantities from cups the size of serving bowls.

Too much Valerin? Never! It's impossible!
Oh wait. "Valerian." Never mind.

Valerin knocks me out, too, but in an entirely different way, and not like that unfortunate fellow at the Fair Harvest!

Poor little guy, such a plaintive expression - hopefully he'll be free to catch and tie up beautiful women very soon.

I can't imagine what she would need the Gremlin for but I'm sure the end results will be amusing.
And I'm sure the evil basement intelligence definitely disbanded. That whack on the head must have neutronized it. A total particle reversal. She's got nothing to worry about.

"nothing to worry about"
*snort*
Besides that shambling monstrosity just around the corner, of course ... naaah, she'll be fine.

the sight of the goblin in a bird cage is quite possibly the most humours thing I've seen in a long time
