Description "On A Leash" series, Painting #1.

Frankly, I'm hoping that someone who looks at the pieces of this series of paintings can come up with more ideas to add to it. I call the series "On A Leash" partly because collars and/or leashes appear in every one, but mostly because of the deeper, psychological theme of humans (entirely beautiful women at this point) being regarded as wild animals, domestic pets, beasts of burden, and exotic trophies by animal-headed people (mostly men at this point). Somewhere in the dark corners of my soul there may very well be some kinky, sexual motivation behind all of this bondage and domination, but I'm honestly not sure. The female face and figure is my favorite subject matter, and I love to show it in different expressions, and these ideas pop into my head and demand to be realized. So, make of it what you want.

The titles of the series are all three words: a preposition (In, By, For, etc.), the pictured master's title (Prince's, Hunter's, Rustler's, etc.), and some reference to the form of restraint or possession the picture involves (Rein, Ropes, Heel, Bonds, etc.). On some of them I try to be clever and come up with a double meaning through homonym, like in this one ("In Prince's Rein" vs. "In Prince's Reign").

While I looked at a few images when blocking this on the masonite, this is pretty much straight out of my head. The composition popped in there on December 9th, 2005, demanding to be realized, and obliging it was my pleasure.

The next in the series is here. [link]

~patt3rnspid3r did an alteration of this piece to propel it into a future "Where No Man Has Gone Before..." Check it out here. [link] Nice job, Raichel!

Enjoy!

In Larry Nivens known space there is a race of 8 feet tall tiger-like aliens called the Kzinti. The Kzinti took Human slaves, as servants and food-beasts, put bikinis on them and you got the next cover of the "Man-Kzin Wars". A excellent seiries if you like sci-fi. Awesome!!!

This series is excellent, and this one is hands-down my favorite. All the ones so far have had some very intriguing deeper elements to them, which are extremely fun to ponder, but this also has some smoking stuff on display. Maybe it's because I'm a cat person, maybe it's because I like redheads, or maybe it's because I like women on leashes

Joking aside, everything here is really superb. I think the thing I like best is how you did the tiger's hands. I'm not even an artist- not a visual one, anyway- but I've practiced enough to know how damn difficult hands can be. You even took it a step further; I know that animal characters that act like humans (Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse) often wear gloves because it's hard to make a paw look like a hand, but you managed to pull it off. Granted, the tiger is supposed to look more human than usual, but the fact that you bothered to make his palms have white fur really shows how much effort went into this.
Gorgeous work

Thank you for both comments! I'm glad this one speaks to you this way. I do plan on doing more of these, but not until the whole Demon's Due series is complete. After that, I'll jump back into it but I probably won't do any more in oil paints. They just take too long. However, doing digitally colored ink drawings, I can rip one of these out in about a week, and I'm looking forward to doing many more of these for years to come. Thanks a bunch!

And "Women on Leashes" is just about my favorite thing in the world... My favorite part of this are the eyes--they came out EXACTLY like I wanted.

Eyes are the other part I have the most trouble with when I try to draw, and yeah, the ones in here are REALLY expressive. The women's downcast gazes bring out the submissiveness, and the tiger's... well, it's hard to put into words. His glare is very territorial, and there's a challenge with an attitude- "go ahead, just try it, punk"- which is a very catlike thing, but there's also something else I can't quite put my finger on...
I guess the best way I can describe it is that they make me realize exactly how well the lyrics of 'Eye of the Tiger' match its title.

You know, it would be interesting for you and a friend to do an interpretation of one (or more!) of these scenes. In my own humble opinion, this one would probably be the best, because imagining you as a redhead... rawr...

This one does fit as to the Rakshasha haveing a couple of slaves. Ther is an expression cock of the walk meanoing the chief rooster in the yard where he could be walking a couple of lovelys. Other than that, it would be nice to see acoupe of women on the leash of a mink or chinchilla.

i have no idea what to add to this.

but i like the fip flop kind of thing going here.

they are not bonaged in a domince sort of way, but just a animal sort of way.

very interesting. and the women have same pose like tigers would actully have, but what a human skeleton ability alows of course, not tiger.

the one is even resting, but has a sad face, but dont all animals do that when board and when they are traped lol

so theres not really a female domince issue here at all, but rather a flip flop on animal and human domince XD

very good work, just giveing my insight

Yep, you hit on the idea I was illustrating. Thanks a ton for the shared insight. And while this image (and, to a lesser degree, some of the others in the series) does not suggest something overtly sexual, what it does suggest is very sensual. Honestly, at times I think this is my favorite piece from my own gallery. I'm glad you like it.

I like this a lot
obviously the women are beautiful, but I like the contrasting images and ideas
the tiger and green plants give it a jungle type feel
but the detail in the throne looks kind of Egyptian which is interesting as well because a lot of their gods were animals (not tigers) but still that is what it made me think of
very nice...I will look at the other ones in the series to get a more complete feel of the "bigger" picture

Thanks! This is one of my all-time favorite personal images, so I'm glad you appreciate it. Some folks look at it and simply see/say "naked women in chains." But it's the undercurrent of emotions, thoughts, and sensuality depicted in the faces and postures of the individuals and decorations and lighting that I love. Yeah, that's why I love it. And I have always been fascinated with symbols and imagery from Egyptian mythology--it's very cool!

Well, it was a pretty cool theme. What planted the idea in your head anyway ?.

Also.. I would have liked to see a cobrahead on one of the "keeprs", maybe in some sort of jungle camp type of setting.. Not unlike those women in prisson movies from the 70s.

I'm fairly certain this is where it came from: I was flipping through a magazine called "DRAGON," published by the guys who did the game Dungeons and Dragons--they have lots of cool fantasy art there and fun things to read that inspire ideas. In any case, I came across an article called "The Ecology of the Rakshasa," the rakshasa being a monster in their game (taken from Indian Mythology, actually). Apparently, these monsters like to horde slaves, and consider the beauty and number and power of their slaves to be a symbol of their own power and status. There was a picture in the magazine showing this tiger-headed man (rakshasa) leading these two women in on leashes and collars, and the image hit me quite powerfully (though it could have been a lot better, I think). Anyway, that image percolated for a month, and then somehow I was thinking about Princess Leia's bikini from Star Wars VI, and this image exploded into my head, plants, chair, chains, pillows, princely robe, boots, downcast and humble demeanor on the slaves' faces, glare in the tiger's eyes, and all.

Thanks for giving me an excuse to relive that experience.

I have a list of possible animal types and potential settings for more of these--they really are my favorite project to work on. A cobra-headed individual is definitely in there, but the idea of a jungle camp or prison is not one I've toyed with too much. I'll list it and see what comes up. Thanks again!
