Kire is a careful person, constantly making sure to keep track of what’s going on around him, be it the environment of someone else, and trying to make sure everything's running smoothly. He likes to think things through, as he often tries to think about every detail that he can think of. Usually, it may take him a long time to think about something though, so if it’s possible he’ll choose to wait a long time before making a decision. Kire also has a high appreciation for the idea of creativity, and though he mostly expresses this through artistic means, he does like to try and come up with new and unique solutions to problems. Still, it might take him a while to think on his new ideas, in which he may need to build up confidence before starting anything new.
Having constantly been dealing with irritating people and children in the past, Kire had learned to become incredibly patient with others, capable of taking a lot crap from almost anyone. He’s also polite, making sure avoid offending anyone, even those he doesn’t care for. That isn’t to say that it’s hard for him to find something wrong with anyone, though. Kire is quick to see problems in everyone and everything. Though this helps him find issues that he can improve on with whatever he’s working on, it still can hurt his social interactions as he’s able to pick out the faults in everyone around him, making it more likely for him to politely decline an invitation to a dinner party. Even with him being overly critical with the actions of others, though, it’s still hard to get an angry reaction out of him.
As much as he tried to present himself as a gentleman, Kire still comes off as cold. He’s neither openly friendly nor affectionate, and often he shows a straight face, leading others to assume that he’s bored or doesn’t care, even no matter how good his manners are.
And as much as he does try to keep a straight face, there is in fact a lot that happens internally, from his tendency to pick out the faults of others and constantly remind himself of mistakes they might’ve made in the past, to his fear of messing up again. Due to a history of being compulsive and obsessive over his interests, Kire learned to be cautious about his actions, what he gets into, and the decisions he makes. Without the time to think through something, he’ll just try to stick with what’s familiar, not wanting to take any risks. He’s also very self conscious when it comes to his intelligence and appearance, often leading to him to avoid others or spending hours preparing when it comes to leaving the house and interacting with others. It’s only when Kire is comfortable when he’s able to truly shine.
History
Beginning as a complete brat, Kire was a loud, demanding child who would only calm down around his mother when she told him stories of his previous adventures. That plan would backfire though, as the would decide that he wanted to be like his mother and escape the house as much as he could in order to explore the streets of Belport. Eventually, he went as far as to run away and join a child gang. After nearly two months of being missing from home, he would be brought back with a head injury and broken bones, any sense of adventure or confidence that he had before having been squandered by bitter memories and the fact that he missed his comfortable life.
For a while Kire hid in his room and didn’t do much. It wasn’t until he showed some signs of thymagia (see beginner mage section) when his parents decided to make him do something again, this time studying the basics of magecraft. Though he wasn’t happy about this decision at first, the prospect of spellcasting eventually won him over. He grew to care enough about studying magic that he moved to Miras to study at the academy of the Arcane, where he would study hard for the first two years that he was there.
After becoming an official illusionist, he decided to relax a bit, and ended up obsessed with nice clothes and other luxuries. By the end of the year he spent enough money to anger his father, and thus most of his budget cut to where he could only pay for tuition and food. Kire was forced to find a job, in which he ended up as a cashier. After another year he was able to regain his father’s trust, and had his budget increased enough to where he could put more focus back into school. Friends he hadn’t talked to much ever since he got a job began to see him more again, including this girl he had a few feelings for. Sadly, she was in a relationship, so he wasn’t really able to make a move. Her boyfriend still became hostile to him, though. Though he tried to bear with it at first, they grew more and more passive-aggressive, and eventually they had a duel. Though it started off non-violent, Kire ended up getting set on fire and his opponent was struck in the head with a staff. Their actions were then reported to the school, in which his opponent was expelled and Kire was suspended. Though he technically got off easier, the girl he liked never wanted to see him again, and his reputation around the school at plummeted. Out of guilt and embarrassment, he left the academy and found a new mentor in a different city.
Kire found a mentor in Nisalvini who would teach him magic along with how to become a merchant. Still ashamed about his actions in school, he kept his social life to his mentor and his family, even as he began to fantasize about the idea of starting a family. Luckily for him, his mentor’s daughter developed feelings for him, and years later the pair of them fell in love and got married.
When the pair tried to start a family, though, his wife just couldn’t seem to get pregnant. When they visited a healer, the idea that one of them may be sterile was brought up, causing both of them to grow upset. Eventually Kire began to pray to Mareus, goddess of water and fertility, more and more, to the point in which it became an obsession. After tattooing her halo to his hand, it seemed that she finally answered their prayers, at least, until he learned that his wife cheated on him. Upset by the news, he called for a divorce.
Depressed Kire returned to Belport in order to recover and try to piece his life together.
After three years, he decided to return to his old goal of becoming an enchanter. After finding a new mentor, he returned to Nisalvini in order to study there, this time far out in the country for the next four years.
When the black thorn plague struck the land, Kire insisted that both he and his new mentor should try to return to society, but the old man was stubborn about it. It was only when he was too weak from the ash fever to refuse when Kire dragged him back to Nisalvini. From there on, the two of them were quarantined.
After the island was restored, he and his niece (who came to Nisalvini when Kire didn’t try looking for his family in Valevo after the annexation of the north) left for Valevo. For the battle to take back Belport, Kire helped make illusionary traps to help mess with the Kobeners, and came home as soon as the battle was won.
Since his family’s home had been pillaged for treasures, he tries to help make money to help take care of everyone as the city was recovering, along with helping take care of his nieces and nephews. Now, though, he considers the idea of taking advantage of the new guild, “The Ley Lines Syndicate,” in order to improve his and his family’s condition.
The Long (and Probably Nicer) Version
Additional info
In terms of magical abilities, Kire is strongest when it coming to imbuing, thanks to the ability to work at a slower pace and being able to think out every detail. When it comes to imbuing, his work tends to be realistic and long lasting, especially compared to simple casting done with his staff. While his fire and water affects are fairly decent, along with the ability to 'muffle' and 'create' sound, illusion created from basic casting tend to not last too long.
After having had lost a ton of property and money after the Empire's control of Belport, Kire had to give up a lot of his nicer clothes to help restore his family's funds. Because of the hit to his wardrobe, most of the clothing he owns now are simple and uncolored, but have been imbued with glamours in order to make them look much nicer.
The crystal at the end of his staff is actually clear, but will shine the colors of illusion he's casting when there is in fact an illusion.
Even though he carries a staff, he prefers to use a wand for most of his imbuing, since it's easier to use at a desk.
The knife he sometimes carries with him is just for looks, also because his mother pushed him into carrying a weapon. He doesn't really know how to wield it (save for maybe 'slashy slashy poke poke')
People have been starting to say that he's growing to act like his father. Honestly, he isn't sure what to think about that.
Recently he's been trying to advertise himself as a possible tutor, along with attempts to catch the attention of those from Belport's Performing Arts Society who might want some magical costumes.
Both of Kire's father's wives liked to give their children weird names, such as the made up name of "Guin" and the name "Kir'Vala," which is a combination of the names Kir, and Voyla.
Despite all the battles that Belport has had to face, the small sailboat owned by his father still survives and floats at the docks. Due to the fact that it hasn't managed to get destroyed, it has been renamed "The Lucky" by Denis Ostrovsky.
Kire sometimes sails the boat out with some of his nieces and nephews in order to entertain them.
Has Mareus's halo tattooed to the back of his right hand. Even though she hasn't answered his prayers when it came to having a child of his own, he still prays to her a lot, usually about keeping the sea calm or helping his family when it comes to financial security.
One of Kire's nieces from his half brother is half-dark elf. Despite this, he still isn't sure what to think of dark elves themselves. He's heard about those who look down on half elves, which he sees them as disgusting, but he's also aware of light elves who think like that too. Eventually he's decided that he doesn't really want to warm up to anyone with that sort of mind set.
Isn't actually 100% sure if his half brother is still alive, but he still chooses to ask around certain groups in case he is.
Kire still has a scar from his duel back in the academy - Reference
Reference also shows his heterochromia
Kire enjoys angsty literature
Ever since he took an interest in fashion he's been drawing influence from various cities from across the world, though ever since he moved back to Belport he's been dressing a bit more conservatively
He has a tendency to cover his mouth if he feels he's showing to much emotion
Over the year he's become fairly thrifty with his spending
RelationshipsFamily (Immediate):
Lon Ostrovsky - Father; After finally getting close to his father, Kire is upset to see him in such a broken mental state, and has a hard time trying to talk to him himself.
Kira Ostrovsky - Mother; Tries to help her with work, out of everyone he’s closest to her
Guin Ostrovsky - Older Half-Brother; Never was that close to him, but Kire still wishes to find out what happened to him.
Liliya Ostrovsky - Younger Sister; They’re mildly comfortable around each other, since she’s beginning to take her place as the new head of the family he’s had to take up her requests and discuss issues with her.
Family (In-laws, nieces, nephews):
Renata Ostrovsky - Sister-in-law; They have a fair amount of respect for each other, and can work together and joke around well enough. After meeting her again after the attack on Belport he’s had to help her take care of the children, which he still does to this day.
Marina Ostrovsky - Niece (daughter of Guin); Out of all the children he seems to have the most attached to her. After having her come and help take care of him in Nisalvini, along with the time they spent together trying to help her learn magic, Kire started to feel a paternal desire to try and take care of her, and will give her special attention. At this point, he's also grown rather protective of her.
Denis Ostrovsky - Nephew (young son of Guin & Renata); loud, cheery boy who’s mildly annoying. Constantly tries to get Kire to take him and his twin out to places or to show him more of his magic.
Alexei Ostrovsky - Nephew (young son of Guin & Renata); the shyer and less annoying twin, the young boy doesn’t approach him without his brother much, but Kire does catch him spying on him from time to time.
Lada Ostrovsky - Niece (baby daughter of Guin & Renata); she’s sort of still an infant, so there’s nothing notable about their relationship
Immanuil Ostrovsky - Brother-in-law; a rather dependable, stoic man, though he is abrasive to those who aren’t his wife and kids, much to the annoyance of Kire.
Ilia Ostrovsky - Nephew (young son of Liliya & Immanuil); a sweet boy, but a bit of an idiot. Kire would prefer it if he would stop messing with his stuff.
Nika Ostrovsky - Niece (young daughter of Liliya & Immanuil); a very curious, quiet toddler, she also gets into his stuff, but will actually hide it and say nothing about it, much to his annoyance.

Pretty nervous about how he came out, oTL. Never really been in a time crunch with character apps before. Hopefully, though, you guys will enjoy reading about him!
So a certain friend of mine brought this group to my attention, saying how both Kire and her oc may finally be able to have their adventures together, so I'm a bit excited. The group is insanely detailed, so if I manage to get in it'll hopefully be a good time. \o/
