Description
It’s an unknown hour in the A.M., and Oliver Davidson is driving on a deserted highway through the woods. How’d he end up here? In solidarity, Oliver was attempting to clear his mind from the day. He was painfully aware of it all, and he wanted quite the opposite. “What if I just disappear?” This peculiar thought ran through his mind like a silent film. The visuals were as clear as day; only the silence was filled with the sounds of a terribly exhausted engine. Not for long as Oliver flipped through the stations, a local broadcaster blabbed on about the latest political theory and then ironically played Del Shannon’s "Runaway.” His mind began to drift. Realizing how hauntingly unfamiliar the woods were and that he must’ve taken one too many wrong turns, Oliver jolted to a stop. The sky was suddenly red, a detail that he couldn’t have missed, for it was just midnight. He thought to himself. He pulled out his phone to check the map, only to find that there appeared to be a foreign language that he couldn’t recognize. The bizarre text that was juxtaposed against the electronic screen glared at him for some time. Before Oliver knew it, he was dazed and perplexed as to why this happened and, more importantly, what had happened. “Why did I drive here? I can’t quite remember what seemed to be troubling me. Surely it had to be something. I know this.” He hoped for a reminder. He attempted to fix his demeanor, and he shook his head relentlessly to wake up from this ceaseless nightmare. As he lifted his head from the wheel, his eyes met the most shocking, wicked smile he had ever gazed upon. Paralyzed by it, time stood still. The smile was everywhere. Blazingly ingrained in his vision, he couldn’t escape it. The grin was ever so encompassing. It didn’t flinch. Oliver couldn’t look away. Sound became silent, and light became dark.
Oliver’s vehicle suddenly flung into the air and overturned completely. A truck driver was on his nightly route when he came to an abrupt halt. Distraught himself, time was still still, unable to look at the scene, dreading reality to set in. All the driver could see was the ever-blinding light of night—a blood moon.
