I seem to have improved with colour blending, but the overall look...bleh.

More tips on coloured pencils please!

Mmmmm, yes, your colors look much richer in this!

I think it's a colored-pencil thing that it's very hard to get the white of the paper out of the look. In that way I think it's harder to get striking contrast.

Yes, white paper kind of sucks. I'm trying grey paper now. It looks so much brighter. I love experimenting. Haha.

It only works if you don't press too hard. And depending on the quality of your pencils, too . . .

Right, because your pencil will bust right through it. I'll bet cardboard would be good to paint on, though.

Yyyyyepp. Soft colored pencils, very lightly, lots of layering, worked ok for me.
