My entry for *Saimain 's contest. As you can see (hopefully) her character, Faeren, is merging with the Forest of Illusions. I figured that the process probably isn't just one way and that the Forest is becomg Faeren too.This is my first digital painting (I used Corel Painter IX.5 and my Wacom tablet). Naturally there were some bad moments ("what the heck happend to the layer!" and "gah it's a giant head!") but right now I feel fairly proud of it and I certainly learned a lot. There's a ton more to learn though.
I'm so glad it's finished. Since I'd never used Painter before or any other art program besides my little Photoshop Elements 3, I was really worried about getting it done on time.

Wow, I really love the skin tones. If you ever want to go back and improve it (I usually never do with my stuff, but hey...) I think adding some hair shadows around the face would improve the realism. It's the only thing that strikes me as "missing". Other than that, I like the heavy and dark composition

This is, quite simply, stunning. Love the composition! It's very clever how the trees form the shapes for his hair and shoulders. If you have a lineart of this somewhere, I would love to see it. The lighting and details are absolutely gorgeous, especially in the trees. Snoots and the butterflies are a neat addition, too. Hee, the longer I stare at this, the more fascinated by it I become. And you're right, it does start to work both ways after a while. ^__^
