Description
Skyro's in-game model (mainly in Giants, after they tweaked his S:SA model but before SF made everyone look rubbery) is a weird sort of cute once you get used to it, but it's hard to make him conventionally adorable. I tried to get him somewhere between what I wanted him to be like (catlike snout, subtler scales, uuuhhh-) and what he actually looks like in-game, but at some point I had to stop fiddling with his facial proportions and just slap out a final picture.
...and then on top of THAT, I had to figure out how to shade him all fancy-like. I've been trying out a multi-layer method of soft darks, hard darks, soft lights, and sometimes hard lights if the design calls for it (such as his horns here), and it's looked LEAGUES better than my old cel-shading methods. (Cel-shading on characters who should have more detailed shading, I mean; if style-matching calls for cel-shading, then that's a different story.)
I'm gonna be (re)drawing my dozen-plus favorite 'landers in this style, so, uh... wish me luck!
