Yay, felt like it took ages to finish this one.
It is an inceptionism / homage to Pierre Auguste Cot's Ophelia, who holds a book in her hand in the original version.
I took some artistic license to stick to the lighting and pose while incorporating the modern anime character with her weapon - Myrtenaster.
It was definitely a lot of fun to paint her and it is always a treat to learn from the old masters - it is like a personal mentoring session.

Hey thank you very much! I agree, the first few seasons are very rough, but the great thing about this (which got me through the first season) is that it gets better with each season and it is completely community-driven and free-to-watch which alone makes it a "must have seen" anime even if it is western and thus not anime - but you know what I mean 
If you have the chance to watch the first season's at the side you will definitely be rewarded afterwards

It is always mesmerizing to spend time with these master pieces and questions arise such as how long did the original model might had to pose, what was the painter thinking? Or what projects did he had on his plate before or after this particular painting?

Inceptionism I only know in connection with computer programs interpreting a picture and re-painting it.

It's interesting to see the influence of modern media which you put into this (and others of your) artwork.

What do you think would the old masters think of our generation of painters, especially the digitial painters?

Thanks for the comment, rarely does someone see the reminiscence to the google-algorithm.
What I refer to is rather the hand painted version of that and since it is not just a pattern, I bet I could beat google any given day at this challenge - and upcoming "uploadfilters" too for that matter
The basic and underlying intention was to learn from the old masters and it is no secret that even Da Vinci repainted his mentors work in order to learn from it, OK he also cut open dead bodies to learn from them, I'm happy we live in times where you can view anatomy in 3d-space and in realtime 
And your last question is the most welcomed; I always repaint those old masters works in a way they would approve of it (given they knew the reference and the times we live in)
And btw. I don't have much time to play video games, but I watch a lot of "let's plays" and research every stories about a character as much as possible. Similar to what I would do for any commission of a book cover
