The Sweet Family Ranch is a 900 acre cow-calf operation located on the Diablo Range in Livermore, California. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, windmills, and is teeming with wildlife an idyllic setting for cattle to both benefit the environment with rotational grazing and be benefited by an all-natural grass diet. I myself have always looked upon the cattle grazing along these hills as trademarked “Happy Cows,” though recently I have found these fond pastoral images clouded with foreboding. The calf you see enjoying his mother’s milk with this picturesque backdrop is destined for the feedlot.

• The Sweets are contracted with Harris Ranch to provide calves to be raised and slaughtered.
