Occurrence of this species on Delos: Frequent
Scientific name: Agama agama

info on this species: Also known as Red-headed Rock Agama, or Rainbow Agama. It can often be seen during the middle of a sunny day. In the breeding season the males develop their most dramatic markings, the head and neck and also tail turning bright orange, and the body dark blue. Outside of the breeding season, the male is a plain brown. The females and juveniles are always more cryptically marked. This lizard can be seen climbing rocks and walls. The diet consists mainly of insects.
This species has been deliberately introduced my man in other parts of the world outside its native range. In the Mediterranean, it is recorded from Malta, Sicily and Greece. Some islands of Greece became suitable for this species, while in Malta and Sicily it did not establish.

Any idea why it had been introduced?
Our lizards seem to be more streamlined

some introductions seem to be accidentals, but with most cases for reptiles, they could be intentional, primarily as exotic pets, but then some manage to escape, or release in purpose, like chameleons in Malta
