Oh snaps. I did something on paper! X_XUrrrk, it has so many mistakes in it. But I'm determined to learn how to use more natural media, so here is my first stab at markers in a while. ; 3; I swore that some of these colors were the same on paper but when I scanned them... they were completely different. ARG. *devrurouni-lu* is making me post it. <3
This is kinda a remake of a drawing I did a loooooong time ago. Which I don't have anymore... but I remember doing it. XD His shirt is from [link] ... which I really want.
Quick bg added in Photoshop. I'm too scared to fiddle with backgrounds yet. ; 3;

there is NO reason to feel bad about this picture. I LOVE it--in fact, now I'd really like to try to imitate how you shaded this. Being self-taught in the marker field, it never crossed my mind to try it the way you have here and now I REALLY want to. So there--that should be enough to make it awesome. Plus, the jumps from pure white to color blows me away (tis something I constantly fail at) So yeah. You rock.

Wow, this is great. I can't draw with markers. Murders the life out of the picture and my tolerance. I'm always grumpy after I color with em. This is really cool though. The colors make me smile.

I have been using pencil crayon and markers for almost 20 years, and when i wanted to try and scan some of the thing si had worked on it was extremely hard to match the glow that was on the page.
I dunno , once you scan it the life seems to be sucked out of it, and when you look at it in real life you swear it is a different picture altogether. If you start messing around with it in photoshop, it starts looking a little too synthetic after a while, even after just a brightness tweak.
Hard stuff to transfer!

You know, even though there are mistakes I always feel better after doing a piece by hand...something about putting your own energy into a piece than just your thoughts onto a screen....it can be very spiritual sometimes.....*sounds hippyish* Well, you get the idea. Still looks great though yo, keep it up.

markers can be a very fun but very unforgiving medium - but you did an awesome job, especially with the color harmony in this piece. What kind of markers did you use, btw? And if you need help with markers, I'll humbly offer up what I know

oh, I think I forgot to say that if you use the broad end of the markers to color in large areas it usually makes them look nice and smooth - the narrow nibs tend to leave these stroke marks. I hope that helps.

ooooh, trias.
Personally, I don't use the narrow nib(s) just cause I think it makes the ink go away faster . . . but thats a personal thing. Some people have amazing skills with them.
Honestly, you did an amazing job and I don't think there's much I could tell you, except that if you ever want to blend colors for a smoother look, go over the edges of the darker color(s) with the lighter colors . . . does that make sense? Aah, I feel like an attention whore, but I think I explained it better here: [link]
