Description I figured I'd upload this... I did this a while ago...

First day of high school! whoooo!

I'm excited --- in that pee-your-pants-and-then-go-excuse-yourself-to-barf-you-breakfast-out sort of way.

Lookit, it's Katara in Shiny Animu style TT_TT

Can anybody guess the lyrics in the background...? Lol that was the song I was listening to the whole time I was drawing it.

">her personalty reminds me of someone who i dont like"

You sound like you have issues with this person. Her character developed just as much as anyone else's.

Absent father and a dead mother. She's the only bender in her tribe - Sokka writes her bending as "freakish magic" until they meet the Avatar. She acts as Sokka's mother figure - having to wash his clothes, cook, etc "Have you ever SMELLED your dirty socks?" (ep 1) She's treated very poorly up until Aang shows up into their lives.

She's far from selfish. I find that strange when paired with "too motherly". Her entire persona as the Painted Lady proves otherwise. Her ultimate decision to reject Jet's selfish acts proves otherwise. If anything, Aang is the most selfish character in the entire series. He hides the scroll from Sokka and Katara's father so that they will continue to travel with them. He kisses Katara after the play expecting her to reciprocate his feelings and when she doesn't he throws a tantrum. He never wanted to give up his attachment to Katara to evolve the Avatar State... even though that doesn't mean he can't love her... other Avatars have loved.... but he's young and stubborn whatever.... he eventually does it.

Posing as the Painted Lady was, for sure, a moral grey area. But there weren't any channels of government to go through to save the town from poisoning. The Fire Nation's rule was unjust and cruel. Same moral standpoint of stopping the Fire Nation from taking over the world.

She's allowed to disagree with Toph. And Katara shouldn't be expected to accept her behavior as is in order to "keep" Aang's Earthbending teacher. Toph expected to freeload off of them just because she knew earthbending. Katara is quite used to being expected to do all the chores and was NOT having it - especially from a girl who was "sick" of being treated as helpless royalty. Go gather food like everyone else, Toph.

Azula was a ruthless murderer. She hired an assassin to kill her own brother. (Fortunately, he caught on and saved himself) Azula's breakdown after realizing she lost wasn't a real concern. They didn't kill her. They spared her. They DID feel bad. They felt bad that she was realizing how much of a monster she had become but that is NOT a get out of jail free card. Hitler shot himself.

Overpowered? Aang mastered all the elements in one year. He catches on just as quick. She's been practicing since she was little. She already knows the basics of waterbending in the first episode. That's all they do all day. She's powerful and strong willed.

You say OLDER BROTHER as if she should be subservient to a male.... and that her age difference of 1-2 years makes her any less wise. She actually proves to be a lot more intelligent than Sokka ... emotionally as well.

She is a "bitch" toward Zuko because he was a very real threat to them most of their travels. She decided to open up and trust Zuko in Ba Sing Se and he folded over DADS TWISTED "LOVE". She couldn't blindly trust him again. She had been fooled once, already. She didn't know how sick he was. But after he helped her find closure, after he showed interest in

>"And at least toph is different from other girls! Katara... Ugh! Such a typical personality! She's really boring, I only like her when she dies. Otherwise she bores me to death."

She's definitely the straight man of the series. It's mainly told from her point of view, after all. But you're also supposed to identify with her. She empathizes with characters just as you do.

Well I haven't watched this series since 2009 when I posted this.... but here's a few examples off the top of my head.
