Description More like a walkthrough, as I don't go in depth on how to paint each feature, though I could make those. Hope this is helpful!

How many layers? Are you construction lines on a separate layer? Also what is a natural brush?

I will definitely try this out, even though the free version of SketchThis has no natural brush. Maybe it will work with a lot fine single lines... If it gets good I'll link it here.
Thanks for the tips in advance, I'm pretty sure this will help

petiteUlis [2013-07-04 06:25:42 +0000 UTC]

There is a general feeling of "grey" in the skintone and since it doesn't appear on the hair, it can't be felt as coming from the (relatively) light background. You may try to allow more saturation in the shading of your skin palette ? Playing with levels on the file of your tutorial worked pretty nicely for me, proof enough it's a question of "feeling the color" and that the technique of shading is excellent !

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

feavre In reply to petiteUlis [2013-07-04 06:59:23 +0000 UTC]

It's slightly more saturated in the final image I linked, but I can fix it more. I find my monitor is a bit more saturated than most. Thanks!

This is so helpful, i'm trying to make my colouring style a bit more realistic, how many layers do you usually use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

feavre In reply to Meachulin [2013-07-03 23:29:26 +0000 UTC]

One for the face, two if you count the background
