Kagerou project has been one of those things that's been on my list for FOREVER! I should really get into it!
I ADORE you use of color for this one! The blue blending into the red is so so beautiful!

thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!
the series is super difficult to get into with the way the story's spread across four different medias on top of being convoluted, but if you need any direction lemme know! it was my life for a few years and it's still very close to my heart lol

I'd recommend starting with the songs, but maybe with some kind of guide to help you understand what's going on? (that guide could be a friend who's into kagepro, or maybe even watching the songs alongside the anime) because it's almost impossible to piece the whole story together otherwise
The anime's not exactly easy to understand either (most of the fandom agrees the anime was a failure in many different ways, which is why i don't necessarily recommend it first) but idk, it's easier than the songs by themselves lol...
honestly if anything, I'd most recommend the songs and then the manga, but that's not for everyone ;7;/
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=… i hope this is helpful - I could never find a good playlist for the songs, so I put this one together myself! I put it in the order I thought they should be watched (though that's not necessarily chronological order nor the order in which they came out... it's sort of... how i'd arrange it for storytelling purposes, with an understandable setup, buildup and climax)
The entire story happens in multiple "routes" because of a huge time loop (separate from the little Kagerou Days time loop), which is unfortunately only a tiny part of why it's so convoluted. Beyond that, 90% of it happens before what would traditionally be the beginning of the story (Jinzou Enemy, the place where the anime begins) with the "main story" being extremely short. Literally: the characters meet, a few tiny things happen depending on the route, and the climax happens. Most of the story is in separate character plot threads that tie together in all sorts of different ways ;7;
So, in the order I have it arranged in the playlist, here's a... very quick summary of the layout. it doesn't look quick but what can i say, it's Kagerou Project LMAO
Children Record is like an anime opening, then from Jinzou Enemy through to Shounen Brave are pretty regular character introduction songs. Mekakushi Code is a summary of the friend group the main characters are gradually added to, and Kagerou Days is the most iconic of the series + an introduction to the weird, dreamlike hell realm of the Heat Haze.
Yuukei Yesterday, Headphone Actor and Ene's Cyber Journey follow one character (Headphone Actor is also in the Heat Haze) and Konoha's State of the World takes the boy from Yuukei Yesterday and throws him into the Kagerou Days situation.
Transparent Answer and Lost Time Memory elaborate on the boy from Jinzou Enemy. Transparent Answer is a flashback to the same time period as Yuukei Yesterday, and Lost Time Memory depicts the same character in two of the separate timelines (referred to as Route 1, the good/"true" route and Route xx, a bad route.)
Moon Viewing Recital is some time in the main story after Kagerou Days; Dead and Seek is... about a side character, but maybe impossible to understand without full context - and Ayano's Theory of Happiness is another flashback, beginning ~10(?) years before the main story and ending at the same time as Transparent Answer and Yuukei Yesterday.
Yobanashi Deceive... i'm not totally sure why i put it there, it should probably go with the rest of the character intros - but i felt the context was a little later in the timeline? He's with the characters from Shounen Brave and Never Lost Word but he ties into the main story a little bit more.
Shinigami Record is the earliest chronological song, with it and then Gunjou Rain taking place hundreds of years in the past. Outer Science and Marry's Fictional World are basically the climax of the story (hopefully you know what's going on with the multiple timelines at this point) - and Summertime Record is the ending, after they finally escape the time loop.
There are some new songs that have come out just recently (Never Lost Word is actually one of them) but I'm not super familiar with them, so i just don't happen to have them in the playlist
