Description Stygian Stígandr - also known as Stian (a siderian male; a horse sized big cat) watching over the outer rims of his territory. From this summit he can see the fjords, mountains, forests, tundras and even the ocean laying at his feet. His name means wanderer, and that is what he is at heart.

He is not often 'home' in his territory in the Fjordlands, above the Arctic Circle, but when he is, he takes his time to enjoy it...Then he can feel a brief moment of serenity and freedom in his otherwise turbulent and hard life as General of the Fjordland Force (a large group of siderians who fight for the freedom of siderian kind and a land without the invasion of apes with guns).

Stian started up this force and was the General until he was about 80 years old (which is 60 in human years). During these years he had achieved a lot, but never enough. He had brought these independent siderian souls together and make them fight as one. That had never happened in siderian history before. He had become a living legend; somebody who made the impossible possible, somebody who never gave up a fight, despite the fact that humans had shot him several times, humiliated him and killed his daughter.

He had achieved a lot with the Fjordland Force but siderians still suffered at the hands of humans. Also in the Fjordlands...He knew this battle for his own pride, his own freedom his own kind and all life forms he respected from the deepest of his soul, was an impossible battle to win. He knew that his goals were unachievable...but he couldn't do anything else than fight. It was a life-long heavy burden for him and he had to embrace these brief peaceful moments where he could look over the mountains...and watch over his land.

Again - this drawing is rather blue - but this is what the Polar Night looks like at a latitude of nearly 70 degrees North. Around the winter solstice it does not get lighter than this and the only daylight you get is a few hours of this dawn-dusk like blue light...see here all the photos has made at my place in Tromsø (69,4 degrees North) around the winter solstice lapis-lazuri.deviantart.com/ga…

first off, i can see your art evolving in front of my eyes, while at the same time it preserves this astonishing uniqueness, character, unmistakable atmosphere.... the one that makes it stand out so one can recognize it beyond doubt among a million other artists. this piece is the pure, signature Jayme art once more - at the same time cold and serene, at the same time still and powerful, having the authentic spirit of the North in it, as though not just having but having been woven entirely out of it.... and perfectly natural, but that Spirit of the Wilderness, of Nature, of Winter is so strong and tangible that it makes the scenery look mystical and otherworldly. with all of that Stian is in such harmony, he is one with the Winter, with the North.

i gotta say this feels almost elemental because it is almost entirely, perfectly blue. as always the atmosphere is a main character in the artwork, and i simply love the mountains and the vast fjord scenery behind, obscured by the dark northern mists. the shimmer of the snow shows the beauty of winter, and the birds and the snowflakes on the wind give a dynamic feeling to this otherwise calm, still composition. the overall gradient gives powerful impact as well, and i gotta say the way you applied the soft northern daylight to Stian's body - especially with the highlight touches of the tail which break the flat, in-line posture - is simply masterful. so for the wind in his fur.... another detail that shows just how much he blends with the North.

last but not least.... it is an incredible honour for me that you mentioned my photography works with this incredible piece. it makes me feel that i truly managed to capture the Spirit of the Northern Nature. truly, truly an honour to me.

"Det er håpløst og vi gir oss ikke" burde være mottoet til Stian...

Fantastisk kunstverk!

Lovely indeed. I was halfway through typing that I didn't see any waterfalls anywhere, then I noticed that you named this picture WANDERER over the mountains, not WATERFALL. Sorry.

That said, the lighting is good, the wind is good...though looking at the hind legs, it looks sort of like an icy X-ray. Is that intentional?

In the end, fantastic as always.

lol, you have the bad-reading curse too? I do that all the time, misreading things...sometimes leading to embarassing situations.
I laught when I read 'icy X-ray' - quite true. That's gonna be Stian's next nickname (next to airplane). Because indeed, that was quite intentional. No matter his condition, his bones always stick out. I used to say; his skeleton is too heavy for his body. It's not that noticable in the rather muscular frontquarters, but very obvious in his skinny hind-quarters. His kneejoints and ankles are very prominent and it looks like he has no pelvis at all. I used to say he has no butt. He's permanently lean, but especially in more stressfull times, the stress eats up even more...
But now you say so...I know I can overdo this a bit...so maybe I can make his lowerleg muscle a little bit more prominent. I know he has very flat upperleg muscles (running and jumping is not his strongest side...), but the lower leg could be a bit more muscular... Thanks for mentioning it.

Aaah i dream of having the honor to see theses beautiful northern lands myself!

really gorgeous piece and i love all the blues!

Your drawings of Stian have such a power, so much behind them and very interesting meanings and interpretations!

I love learning and reading more about stian! He is simply fantastic, deep yet mysterious

You're very welcome here....it's one of the last European Places where I can feel a sort of freedom...somewhere at the edge of the world. Ha Yeah and this is what the Polar Night looks like...I can tell you...it's blue. blue.and more blue. From late november to late January this blue light is the only light you get in a day...and it's so damn beautiful.

I'm glad that you notice that power behind drawings of Stian...glad that he comes across that way. There is indeed so much behind him...his story is long, deep and very dark. I'm currently writing his entire story down as first blue-print for the novel series in process. It will probably take me several more years to get the manuscript of the first book done...but there will be an entire trilogy about him and the battles he has to fight...

I could tell you much more about him if you want - but that would include a looot of spoilers.

Its my dream to visit Norway for many years! i do have a kind Brazilian friend that moved to Norway a long time ago and when i have a better opportunity she offered me to stay with her for a month or two so i can learn and know more about how is to live in Norway..so that maybe one day i can move myself too! still a far away dream and would be a very complex process but im slowly going after it! life is too short here to be trapped in living in a place you really dislike.. gotta at lest give it a try!

Ahh..where i live is such an ugly landscape full of tall buildings with a grayish sky...i feel so awfully suffocated and depressed here..seeing a Polar Night would be surreal for me i cant even imagine it???

I always saw this in many of your drawings, specially with Stian! its just something so intense and strong and if i already feel this i imagine how you do experience it all!

Ah i would love to know more about him but at the same time i didn't wanted any spoilers you know    even if take many years i hope to be able to buy a copy of all your novel series and read them all with care

Aww really? I hope you can make it to Norway once! Then we could maybe meet hehee. Although it's a long way from Tromsø down to Trondheim or Oslo. But who knows! And Yeah I had to run away from the Netherlands too...far too crowded and hardly any space and forest left. It's like one big city. That turned me so mad that I just HAD to leave.

The Polar Night began 10 days ago - and it's every day Magic. The intensitity of the blue is hard to describe...it varies per day though...but in general it's BLUE...like in this drawing. Sometimes it is actually hard to believe your eyes...especially with the Northern Lights.
Aww really? That's motivating to hear. I'm currently writing Stian's backstory (which could become a little book on it's own...so much it is...), since that will be the backbone of the three novels. I've done Jerald's story already (he's another major PoV). But Yeah I won't spoil too much...but I gave quite some ...hints on DA already.

aah how i too hope! really would like to stay for a longer time as well ohh really? my, that would be a huge honor for me to meet you too!

Im always curious and interested how people manage to move to different countries..seems so complex but if you know a place will make you feel better and have a better life quality i guess its really worthy to give it a try at least! : O

I already saw some interesting videos about it but seeing it in real life must be unbelievable really! i do have this dream of seeing the Northern Lights one day! for sure i will remember of Stian as well!

Even though im very curious i prefer to wait for the stories themselves! aww Jerald the spiked fur Siderian you put some drawings in Tumblr? really loved him already!

As you already know, I love this. A most fave of faves. (May be a background at some point.) the feel is indeed there, this is his mountain, his domain...his spirit. And you know I am a sucker for blue scale related works. :head bang: never gets old to me. And I love how the mountains look, and though I haven't seen it from this vantage point... I know I miss that place... and really in this one the fading of the colors make him feel like he is one with the landscape and the clouds and mist rolling in... such a beautiful, dark and powerful feeling. I absolutely love this piece.

Damn you describe it really so well O.O This becoming one with the landscape...yes that's it...I think this has also become one of my favourite drawings. Indeed..that dark powerful feel and yet this mystery...it's just so purely him. Makes me miss him somewhow...

So good to see new art of yours
Think you always sell me on the white and dark blue. Getting a good contrast is so easy with that combination. Once again, you amaze me with the small details for the environment

Thanks! Yeah well, I have been submitting quite some art recently. I go on with art in a steady pace despite my job. And yes all shades of blue is my favourite combination but to get a realistic feel, I think sepia tones or warm colours are actually easier. Blue has the tendency to look flat.
