Riolu's Trust ( Chap. 0 - Prolouge )

It's so dark ...

And why is it so cold ..?

A-A light ... and a voice ..?

(3rd person POV)
"Hey ... are you alright there bud?"

Max opened his eyes , his vision extremely blurred. There was a figure in front of him but he couldn't quite make it out. All he could tell is that he was somewhere cold and snowy , and he couldn't bare it anymore. He felt smaller but he didn't care much. His main concern was the cold and how long until he'd pass out again. The figure spoke to him again , in a clearer , kind voice.
"Are you awake yet? I don't wanna drag you to town and you'll probably fall out cold on the way..."
Max slowly stood up and rubbed his eyes , clearing his vision. In front of him was an Eevee with her light blue scarf blowing in the cold wind.

Cold.

Max fell on one knee , out of strength. The Eevee helped Max back up to his feet and looked at him.
"You've been out for a while...are you alright?"
Max held back a squeal of joy and proceeded to pet the Eevee with a smile , suddenly regaining his composure.
"Aren't you a cute thing , worried for my hea-"
He stopped short , pulling his hand back. He didn't know if it was a snap of panic or the sudden cold gust of wind , but he shaked , looking at his hands. They were blue and black , a small white spot on the back of them. And they weren't even hands , they were paws. The Eevee looked back at him.
"Hello? Eevee to Riolu!" she yelled.
Riolu? Max finally understood what had happened to him.
"I became a Riolu and woke up in Greenland with an Eevee!?" he said out loud.
The Eevee facepaws and sighs. This kid is insane... And what's Greenland?
"I'd love for you to finish having your mini-episode but we have to get going. We'll freeze to death here if we don't!"
Max quickly snapped out of it and followed the Eevee as she started running. He stumbled some as he followed , straying behind some. The Eevee clearly seemed mad at this , having to stay with him. Max couldn't hang on for long and fainted once more due to the cold.
"Come on , wake up!..."

Ugh ... what happened?

Was it all a dream?

Yeah ... I'll wake up on my bed soon ...

"Hey , he's waking up!"
"Could you be any louder , Jake!?"
"Why are you two yelling!?"

Max slowly opened his eyes to see the same Eevee accompanied by a Growlithe and a Furret , all wearing matching scarves and gloves. (Though he was a bit surprised to see a Fire-type need clothing out of a contest.) He didn't speak for a while as they all yelled at each other and finally asked:
"What's going on-"
"Hang on , Riolu!" yelled the Furret. Max didn't know how to respond to that , so he waited for them to stop yelling , even if it was truly for no reason.

Later...

It was nighttime wherever he was right now and Max had been studying his new body. The Furret and Eevee had passed out on a sofa and as he walked in to check , he was greeted by the Growlithe.
"Hey ... Sorry about earlier. We're not exactly used to each other yet."
Max gave the Growlithe a light smile and sat by him.
"I understand ... what I don't is how I'm here ..."
"Well Lucy here brought you from the mountains-"
"Not that! I mean where exactly am I?"
The Growlithe growled some at being yelled at but let it slide. He looked out the window , putting a paw on Max's head.
"I think I'll let ya find out on your own , small guy ..."
Max looked out the window as well , looking over a town with lights all over.
"Wow ... what a sight ... what's your name?"
He looked up at him with a small giggle. He felt like a kid again in all honesty.
"Jacob , though they call me Jake more frequently. Kinda annoys me really. Now you should get some rest , ok? I'll be showing you around tomorrow."
Max nodded , heading back to the bed he woke up on and slowly falling asleep...

Chapter 0 summary

Max had woken up on a snowy mountain , immediately greeted by an Eevee named Lucy who started taking him to her home. He didn't last long in the run there and passed out due to the cold. He woke up in front of Lucy , a Furret and a Growlithe named Jacob (or as they called him , Jake.) During the night , Jacob explained it all to Max and he learnt that they didn't exactly get along together. Max also agreed to let Jacob accompany and show him around town. Max was starting to like all that has happened to him , and went to sleep in.

Max > Lucy
After being saved by Lucy , Max would do anything to repay her , even if he didn't seem like he would.

Max > Jacob (Jake)
Max immediately felt like a younger brother to him , oddly enough. He doesn't know much about him , but he felt safe around him.

Max > Furret
He doesn't know how to feel towards the Furret , but he did feel hurt after being yelled at for a moment.
