Amazing! At first I got all excited thinking it was a font. You see, I need a calligraphy font b/c my grandmother e-mailed me some Kanji that I want to tattoo on myself, but don't want to tattoo the equivalent of Times New Roman. But then I noticed this is straight up you. Very beautiful indeed! No wonder they call it an art!!!
Now, if only you did commissions... lol. But I guess everyone would bug you to write something for them, huh?
Seriously, this is amazing. I just checked out your gallery and it all looks really cool. This one is my favorite though.
I'm glad I signed on when I did so I could see this.
Thanks for being a great artist and sharing your art with the world!

Alright! So you really want an idea for yourself that I can use? Well, my grandma sent me "forgive" and "don't forget" in Japanese... let's see if you can see Kanji...
許
ε―
δΈ

is how it's typed. I got it on a semi-calligraphy font if you'd like a screenshot... here:
... don't know how well a picture is gonna show up in a comment, but here's my test.
It comes from the "forgive and forget" saying that so many Americans love. Personally, I hate it, because if you forget, then what did you learn? And if you learn nothing, you will be hurt again. I will forgive the snake for biting me... but I'll be damned if I try to pick it up again!
Anyway, I'm gonna watch you so if you do this, I'll see it and get it tattooed. And I don't care how long it takes cuz I only got about $100 for spending cash right now anyway... lol.
And in the meantime I get to keep up with your cool art!

It was amazing... absolutely perfect! No constructive criticism to give, really. I will buy it as soon as I have the time to sit with a credit card in front of my comp... I swear. So thanks for making it available! That is, if you think it's worth it or should I just cut you a check? I really think you deserve something more than stupid typed words could express.

Well yeah of course! Just kinda hard cuz my bro is visiting from Iraq right now... total lack of free time. I really don't like the idea of dA getting a cut of anything, especially since they've deleted some of my original artwork claiming copyright infringement... tends to piss one off. Anyway, should I just cut you a check? Gimme a message with an address and it'd prolly be best if I just gave you like ... I dunno... is $25 fair?

Ummm... well, trying to do that turned kinda fruitless. My bank wants all sorts of information that you probably shouldn't just post randomly for anyone to see.
Got paypal?
If all else fails, I'll just swallow my pride and buy the print off of dA as long as you'll at least get some money off of it that way. Do you get money if I buy a print off of dA?

Beautiful. I love the calligraphy. Did you do this on the computer or traditionally? Forgive my questions, but how did you do this, exactly, and what tools did you use...?

Well, as for the base of every calligraphy I paint, I use traditional methods such as paper, ink, different brushes...
However, I don't have a scanner, nor have I as many sheets of paper as many I'd desire. My sulution is to paint a sheet full of Kanji like these, utilizing every square-inch of the paper. As for the second step, I take a photo of the ones I think I might upload; then I open them in Photoshop, clear all the neighboring mess, clear the background (some lines from the reverse side of the paper can be seen, so I can't even leave the texture of the paper unless I had been lucky enough to be satisfied with only one side of the paper having painted full), then I might darken the brushlines themselves to achieve a smooth surface.
So: The shape is traditionally brush-painted, and the colors are edited in Photoshop.
Finally I add the frame and my stamp (I don't even have a real stamp T-T) and it's ready.
If I had a Paper Factory owner or someone rich, I could paint large things, but sometimes these are about the size of a watch or a table tennis ball to spare paper.
And as for your questions: Just feel free to ask, I'm glad you're interested and want to know more.
Ask anytime.
