Description Patreon Reward for MegaJeff1989 featuring Jabari and Shideh.

Jabari grows and strengthens and wisens with a story reminiscent of The Jungle Book. He’s an Anubis Mowgli, in spirit. As an infant he was left by the Oasis by his mother, and raised by feral jackals in Egypt in the wild. Destiny called him to return to free the citizens of Egypt from Set and his forces, among the first being Shideh, the woman who would become his love. I picture this just before the final confrontation, where Jabari and Shideh has a beautiful moment of serenity at the same oasis with the jackals. Jabari shows her the world of the wild he knows, and she’s among his feral jackal family.

The Oasis was Jabari’s place of being raised where he was taught to survive, and now he returns again with also the knowledge of who he is and where he comes from. A place and time where his two lives cross and have a moment of mutual reckoning. The jackal pack are his past. Shideh is his furture…but she is also connected to his origins.

A quote comes to mind and Im having trouble finding it exactly, but I believe I saw it at the Monterey Aquarium. I will paraphrase it here as I remember it: Animals make us human, not so much because we are apart from them, but because we are a part of them. We’re connected to them.

Doctor Temple Grandin says animals makes us human in her book—one that goes by the same title—and she says, from a scientific perspective, humans and animals have the same core emotions, and thus the same emotional needs for having a life with justice. I believe The Monterey aquarium uses this wisdom to remind us, that even if humans are unique, we share those core features of living with animals. Animals are in us, and we are in them. They really are a wonderful part of who we are.

Furthermore, from a Christian perspective from myself, I love the thought that God makes all his creation connected through Him, and originating back to Him. Everything ties back to Him. He gave man dominion over the Earth, but man is also a part of the Earth too, to be His gardeners to the Earth. And similarly, I love the thought God admits all His creation with Him to eternity, not just humans. The thought that animals or plants or what have you don’t go to heaven -Terrifies- me! Fair warning…

I think the idea of connectedness and compassionate rulership out of understanding that connectedness is something that would be cool to explore in Jabari’s story

That said, I never finished reading Rudyard Kiplings the Jungle Book, which inflected in Jabari, so dont know if this trots down already explored territory. But if anything, it could always explore it from another perspective or different angle.
