Description Five year old Vince looked down at the small present in front of him on the table, frowning in what he probably thought was an intimidating way, and prodded it. It didn't move, or show any signs of life… but that of course didn't mean that it was any less threatening.

He glowered at it for another few minutes; planning to outsmart it, show it who was boss. His parents found it very, very amusing.

"Its okay V man." His mother said soothingly, "You can open it…"

"But what if it's got BOMMMS and stuff in it," he said loudly, prodding it again. His mom sighed, grinning bemusedly.

"Well, if it is a bomb and it explodes when you open it, we won't know will we?" His dad said logically. Vince considered this, looking at the box with a new interest.

"I 'spose you're right." Vince replied, still maintaining his 'I am still the boss and do not trust this anyway' demeanor, and promptly tore into the shiny wrapping paper like the Tasmanian devil.

With shreds of paper flying everywhere, little Vince came upon a small cardboard box. He grabbed up his father's keys from the bowl on the coffee table and used the edge to rip the tape holding it closed.

When the flaps came open and Vince was looking down at more tissue paper, it did not explode- much to his disappointment.

Pulling out the wad of tissue paper, he frowned into the box, because inside the box was in fact- another little box. He frowned some more when he noticed that it had words on it- words that he didn't know yet.

Vince knew how to spell 'stop' because of the red signs all over the place (he also know that they were 'ock-ta-gones', and told his dad whenever he saw one) and he also know how to spell 'Red' and 'Bull.' Vince could spell his last name, 'Rhodes' as well as his middle name, 'Cameron', although he sometimes forgot the 'E'.

He did not however, know how to spell 'Toblerone' let alone say it.

The little boy with the fluffy dark blonde hair picked up the long triangular box, and read the letters slowly, sounding it out like the Librarian lions said on the TV.

"Ttt… Ah… Bu… Llll.. Ehh… Errrr… Aahh… NNNNNNN… Eeeehh…. Tah..Bull.. Ehr… Ahn… ehh… Tahbul.. erhaaaaaaa… Huneh? Tahbulerhahneh? What the froooot looooops is that?" Vince concluded, looking up at his parents perplexedly. The two were covering their mouths and trying not to laugh.

"Good try kid," his dad said fondly, ruffling his hair as Vince continued to look perplexed.

"No honey, its said like this; Toe…" Vince's mom prompted, looking at him expectantly.

"Toe…" Vince repeated, still pretty confused.

"Bllll…"

"Bl…"

"Errr"

"Eeerrrr"

"Oooh"

"Oh"

"NNNNNNn"

"NNNNNNNNNNnnnnn"

"Good job champ- now all together!" his mom said happily. Vince just looked at her for a minute, thinking about the sounds and rubbing his tongue on the roof of his mouth.

"Wanna sound it out again?" His mom asked.

"No." Vince replied stubbornly, and just looked down at the box some more, quite convinced that it would explode if he opened this one.

So of course he had to be brave and open it anyway.

He fumbled for a moment, trying to pull the flap out on the end, and finally managed it. He dropped the thing and dove under the coffee table, hands over his ears shouting to his mom and dad "GET DOWN! ITS GONNA BLOW!"

He clamped his eyes shut and set his jaw, waiting for the impact- he hoped his mommy and daddy could get to cover quick enough.

Vince waited, but he didn't feel his parents fall to the ground under the table next to him, or feel any big explosions… but then again he didn't know how an explosion would feel, so how would he know what it felt like when it happened?

Maybe it had happened, and he had died and now he was a ghost.

…Could he still eat breakfast as a ghost? He didn't know if he could survive without Trix, and that cereal with the tiger on it- it was the best candy ever. But if he was dead he wouldn't be living anyway. Maybe ghosts had better food.

Vince loosened the hold on his ears and instead of the muffled sounds of he didn't know what, he heard full out belly laughing! His dad's scratchy coughing laugh and his mom's loud cackling tinkling simper.

That didn't sound like they were dieing.

"Its safe to come out soldier Rhodes!" his dad called, laughing through the phrase.

"But the BOM didn't go boom yet!" he complained.

"Its not a bomb sweetie- it's a surprise!"

Vince was up at once- his mommy had said present earlier, and everyone know that gifts were always tricks. Surprises were always good though, surprises meant going to Dairy Queen and buying flowers for when mommy came home and getting water balloons when it was hot and seeing grandpa when Daddy wasn't at work.

Vince picked up his surprise and peered inside- there was a silver shiny thing. He tipped the box over and it slid out- it was the shape of a long triangle box too. He picked up the shiny thing, and it felt just like foil- oh it must be more wrappings. He used his fingernails and pulled it away form the thing- it was something brown… was this chocolate?

"Is this chocolate?" he asked his mom, sniffing it.

"Sure is- here, I'll break off a piece." Vince handed her the treat and she pulled the foil back farther, breaking off the first triangle and handing it to Vince.

He looked at it, sniffed it again, stuck his tongue out and tentatively licked it… then stuffed the whole thing in his mouth.

And he gagged on it.

"Take a bite at a time little man," his dad advised as Vince coughed the candy into his hand and scowled at it, his mother covering her mouth to prevent laughing.

Vince looked at the triangle, and then took a nibble from one of the corners.

His world turned upside down.

Vince looked for the words in his head, something that would make sense and sound good and translate what he wanted to say in a more sophisticated way. He thought for a long time, holding the bite on his tongue and pressing it to the roof of his mouth as he did so.

And then he had it.

Something he heard his dad say to mommy one night when she was looking very pretty in a red dress, and smelled like sugar cookies and other good tasting things.

Vince swallowed the bite, and looked down at the rest of his triangle of Toblerone like he had been enlightened.

"Hubba hubba momma, I'm in lurve!" he cried euphorically, and promptly stuffed the rest of the chocolate and marshmallow and nut goodness in his mouth, and let it melt there.
