In this picture, Scooby and the gang, along with Shaggy's adopted daughter Jewel, are being chased by (you guessed it) Paul Bunyan! I decided to use this photo of the Paul Bunyan tribute in Minnesota, just to make it look like a funny commercial you normally see on Cartoon Network. Believe it or not, but there is an actual horror movie called "Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan." Trust it's about as cheesy as it sounds. I saw it myself just so I could give you all a short a review about it.
It's a very low budget direct-to-video movie about a group of a small group of teenagers in Minnesota who were taken on a camping trip all the way from a reform school where they encounter a not so scary guy in a cheap Halloween costume, standing in front of the blue screen, which I guess is suppose to be Paul Bunyan himself. Somehow even at his enormous size, he manages to sneak up on his victims. LAME! And other than how terrible the acting is and how silly the death scenes look, it is revealed that Paul was born with a weird growth condition that somehow allows him to live a few centuries longer than the normal person. I guess if he was already cured, he'd probably be dead by now.
His motive for attacking the innocent is because a bunch of hunters made the mistake of killing his pet blue ox, Babe, for food, and then one of the stupidest members of the teenage group decided to take the beast's horn as a souvenir. But don't worry, that guy gets what he deserved.
The conflict is resolved when after Paul chases the sheriff, his daughter, and a warden, he dies the traditional giant monster death. He is gunned down a SWAT team that managed to show up at the "right" time. So to sum it all up, this movie is like a combination of Hatchet and the Amazing Colossal Man. It tries to mix the slasher genre with the giant monster kind. You see, giant monsters in horror flicks work a whole lot better in Jaws, the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise and even Leprechaun 4: In Space. If Jason Voorhees were to grow giant, it would totally fail. I swear almost every cheesy horror film that I see, makes me think about a Scooby Doo cartoon.
