I think it's interesting that Australia is the only place that calls this a "Wanderer" butterfly. Rather than Monarch. Although it is more descriptive...

It is known as the Monarch butterfly here also Bob.
I would not be surprised if Queensland is the only State they refer to it as the Wanderer Butterfly.

Yes I know Bob, though Western Australia people call it the Monarch so do Victorians these are people I know from gardening Forums most people would call it a pretty butterfly and have no idea what its name is.

It makes me wonder sometimes who they ask to get this info.

You mean about names of insects, or this one in particular? In my case, believe it or not, I'm an Eagle Scout. So I ha a bunch of insect identification type stuff when I was a kid.
I guess to me the "different" names are just interesting. Cultural trivia, stuff like that. Not as a "critique" factor, but more as an educational observance factor...

Personally, I look stuff up on the web...

Yes Insects, Flowers, Fruit and Veggies its understandable in other countries though you don't expect it in your own country as its very confusing.
