OMG I love this character and Henk Kuyper's work! I'm probably the only person in the States whose even heard of them, which is sad, because his stuff is excellent!

No...unfortuantely Franka hasn't made it here in the US. I was lucky enough to have a friend who traveled to Holland and picked them up for me.
If I'd known about her before he went I would have given him a lot more money.

ps: my father has ALL the Franky books. so yes, also the newest one: the travels of the Ishtar II: the wite godess, and he's protecting it with his life, i think he's gonna kill the one who makes the first scratch

Actually, I've heard of her too. In the early '80's in high school I had a French friend who would get Spirou, and she was in it.
I can't remember too much about it though.

I have three hardcover books of his, where he shows his work process. Unfortunately, since the book is in Dutch (I think) I can't read a single word. But I pour over his art frequently. He has such an easy, graceful style. Nothing ever looks static or stiff.
And his buildings and architecture are truely amazing...not to mention his real strong point..his gorgeous women. He's cartoonings great big secret.

I agree.
If I had one very small complaint about his work it would be his male characters. While he clearly loves coming up with uniquie female characters, his men seem kind of stock and generic. He's clearly less interested in them. They also seem more cartoony/cliche' then his women and on occassions seem out of place in his very realistic world.

Kuyper´s originals are all in Dutch.
I´m very happy that all the Franka comics have been translated into German so that I am able read them.
