And another thing, what exactly is the picture meant to represent? A teaser for a short depicting how Thomas came to Sodor or something else entirely? By the way, I think WildNorWester should rework his model of LBSCR Thomas to match the correct livery.

That doesn't really matter. If he (wildnorwester ) wants his Thomas model painted brown before Thomas arrived to Sodor, then it him do want he wants to do with his Thomas model. And if you want the E2 model with the BR black paintwork, then get one from Download Station or whatever.

And now for the earlier question: is this picture supposed to be a teaser for an online short or something? I'm just curious.

Just wait and see what FizzledFirebox has to bring. The description clearly said a "sneak peek" of what's to come. It could be a Youtube video, but just wait.

Shouldn't Thomas be brown? He looks black to me.

No - Thomas shouldn't be brown. I did a LOT of research on the liveries when creating this model, helps to know a few railway historians too...only two E2's of the original short tank series were in passenger brown as they were tested on passenger trains and failed.
Thomas would be in LBSCR Goods Black along with 8 out of 10 E2's... There is a LOT of misconception about Thomas' LBSCR livery because of Hornby's model which was of one of the TWO passenger E2's.
So yea, he's black because that is the correct livery for him.

Do you think the class would have been better know, if the extended side tanks version were the ones used for the experimental passenger runs?

It was due to insufficient coal space, not water. So no.

As I said - a lot of people have been misguided by the Hornby model being of one of the two passenger testers, with them being in brown.

This route reminds me of the harbor scene in Tobias and the Half Pariah. Nice job Scott.
